The Congregation of the Passion, Holy Cross Province needed new kitchen appliances.

Their oven needed numerous repairs, and its door wouldn't even close properly. The refrigerators and freezers were failing; they were using coolers to store their food.

Thanks to a grant from SOAR!, kitchen staff can provide safe and quality food to aging religious! Now they say "Thank you, SOAR!" as they prepare their food.

SOAR! is honored to recognize Kerrie Wilson with the Father Bob Brown, OSFS Good Samaritan Award at our 40th Anniversary Washington, DC Awards Gala.

For 25 years as CEO of Cornerstones, Kerrie has strengthened families and communities across Northern Virginia. A tireless advocate for affordable housing and equitable access to resources, she also co-chaired the Fairfax County Affordable Housing Advisory Council, advancing housing opportunities for those who need them most.

For Mary Lynn and Deacon Jim Shanahan, faith is lived through service.

Together, they have devoted their lives to caring for others. Mary Lynn has championed Catholic education through her work with the Washington School for Girls, San Miguel School Washington DC and Christ Child Society DC. Jim founded and directed the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington Financial Stability Network—a group of pro bono accountants and lawyers ensuring “economic justice for all” through education, financial coaching and tax refund assistance.

Together, they share a commitment to ensuring the marginalized realize that Jesus’ words are addressed personally to each of them: “I have loved you.”
