What might leadership look like if it centered not on power and hierarchy, but on interconnectedness, responsibility, and care for the whole?

In this article, “An Indigenous American Vision of Leadership,” Art Blume challenges conventional Western leadership models and invites us to rethink leadership through an Indigenous worldview — one grounded in collaboration, humility, sustainability, and collective wellbeing.

Using a common American metaphor, Art Blume suggests that not only do many of today’s leaders have difficulty seeing the forest for the trees, many leaders have difficulty seeing how the trees and the forest are connected to the rest of the natural world through the air, the soil, and the water.
