The Bluegrass Music Association of Maine invites you to become a member.

*To educate the public about Bluegrass music, in order to foster an appreciation of its history and cultural heritage
*To further the enjoyment of Bluegrass music for ourselves and others through teaching, sharing, and playing acoustic stringed instruments
*To encourage participation in Bluegrass music events
*To support area musicians and bands who play Bluegrass music
*To inform members about bluegrass related events taking place around the state
*To cooperate with other organizations to promote Bluegrass and related music
*To preserve the memories of those who have preceded us in this field of endeavor

At the BMAM Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors recognized the long standing dedication and service of Nellie Kennedy. The plaque was presented to her by President Steve Bixby in person at Center Theatre during the Rock Hearts concert.

Nellie is a founding member of BMAM and has served in a variety of roles through the years, most recently as Treasurer. Nellie will be retiring from the Board in November. To say she has BIG SHOES to fill is a major understatement! Her professionalism and passion has led this organization to where we are today. We know she will continue to guide us and will serve as a resource for the board through the transition and beyond. Thank you, Nellie for all you have done for BMAM!

That's a wrap on our celebration of 30 years of BMAM! What a year it has been! Here is a look back on how we celebrated!

We held a BMAM BIrthday Bash in April at 317 Main Community Music Center
Gathered for Bluegrass Day at the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame in June
Hosted a Band Scramble at Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festivals in June
Facilitated the BMAM Band Competition at The Crooked River Gathering
Presented Rock Hearts at Center Theatre

On top of all that- we reformatted our newsletter-"The Bluegrass Express", completely redesigned our Website, and revamped our Calendar of Events.

We had booths at both Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festivals, the Ossipee Valley Music Festival, The Crooked River Gathering and the County Bluegrass Festival. We supported Boston Bluegrass Union in the return of the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival. And we had a significant Maine presence at the International Bluegrass Music Association World of Bluegrass last week.

In addition to holding monthly Jams in Southern Maine, Eastern Maine, and the Farmington Area, we started a new jam in Aroostook County starting with a kick-off concert! We have been the grateful recipient of grants from Maine Arts Commission and Maine Humanities Council to make that happen.

We have partnered with One Longfellow Square to promote Bluegrass Shows there. We have significantly increased our social media presence and used this to share and promote shows at venues across Maine.

Now we have begun a Strategic Planning process to take us into our next Chapter. We look forward to asking you all how we can continue to preserve and promote bluegrass music in Maine.
