Learning Together: This Week’s Term – Medulloblastoma

This week, we're highlighting Medulloblastoma, one of the most common types of cancerous brain tumors in children.

Medulloblastoma typically develops in the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for balance and coordination. Because these tumors can grow quickly and sometimes spread through the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, timely diagnosis and treatment are especially important.

For families facing a medulloblastoma diagnosis, the journey can bring overwhelming medical decisions, treatments, and uncertainty. Every child's experience is unique, and understanding their diagnosis is an important part of navigating the road ahead.

Harmoni, a brave 8-year-old girl battling DIPG, an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer.

After exhausting available treatment options, Harmoni is now receiving hospice care at home. During this heartbreaking time, her family is focused on what matters most, being together, surrounding Harmoni with love, and cherishing every precious moment.

At The Payton Wright Foundation, we believe families facing unimaginable circumstances like these should be able to focus on their children without the added weight of financial stress. We hope to ease some of that burden so Harmoni’s family can spend this precious time together.
