As we close Literacy Month, we celebrate a powerful truth: literacy connects us to words, and cultural literacy connects us to one another.

Learning Together

Sometimes opening a door begins with two people learning together. LVSSC volunteer tutors work in class, in small groups, and one-to-one with adult learners, helping them strengthen the English literacy skills they need for their own goals and everyday lives. It's personal. It's practical. And every learner's journey is different.

In celebration of National Literacy Month, LVSSC has created special displays at Venice Library highlighting the many ways literacy can lead to opportunity, confidence, community, and citizenship.

We’re grateful to our partners at the Venice Library for helping us raise awareness of adult literacy throughout South Sarasota County.
