We believe yoga belongs to everyone, but belonging isn’t something we hand out; we build it together, in partnership with the communities we work with. 🌍

Our approach starts with listening, not exporting a single “correct” version of the practice, but localizing it so it actually serves the community learning it. 🌱

That’s especially true for the girls & young women at the center of our programs. Girlhood isn’t a stage to get through on the way to becoming empowered; it’s where agency, voice, & leadership already live, if we make room for them. 🗣️

A seasoned teacher, or someone brand new to the practice, given the tools & the time, anyone can learn to teach & lead in their own community, on their own terms. 🌀

Yoga was never really about how far you can bend. It’s about self-determination, trust, & the compassion it builds along the way, & we’re here to keep making room for that. 🩵

Education can open a door. But what happens when we give someone the space to discover what’s on the other side? 📚

At Souljourn Yoga Foundation, we think about education as something expansive. It’s learning how to listen to your body. Finding your voice. Making something with your hands. Asking questions. Taking up space. Changing your mind.

Yoga can be part of that education. So can art, writing, movement, creativity & simply having a place where you feel safe enough to explore. 🌀 🎨 ✍️

Because education isn’t only about preparing for a future. It’s also about giving the tools, confidence & freedom to shape that future. 🌍

That’s at the heart of our On the Ground programs, from our free Yoga Teacher Training Program to our Yoga Camp, which brings yoga, art & creative expression to young women worldwide.

There is something that happens when travel becomes reciprocity, the trip stops being just about you, the place starts to matter as much as the experience. 🌎

This is our partnership with Los Amigos De La Esquina A.C. (Los Amigos De La Esquina) has spent almost a decade using art & wellbeing to support Maya & Mexican kids in Tulum. The girls LADLE serves are primarily between 12-18, from the local community. 🧡

Each participant’s $200 donation goes directly to LADLE’s work, supporting roughly 20 free workshops every week, year‑round. 🎨

During the retreat, we show up in person too, moving through a yoga class & creating an art project side by side with the kids. Souljourn Yoga exists to fund girls’ education around the world, & this is that mission, up close. 🌻

Join us for Making + Moving: A Yoga + Botanical Dye Retreat, our first-ever retreat in Mexico, March 10–14, 2027 with Down To Earth Goods at the gorgeous NAJIL CHAK | TULUM ART RESIDENCE 🇲🇽

August is Wellness Month, & we’re taking the opportunity to think about what wellness really means. ✨

Maybe it’s time to put the “we” back into wellness.

It’s easy to think of self-care as something solitary, a ritual you do on your own. But at Souljourn Yoga Foundation, we’ve seen again & again that some of the deepest forms of care happen in community: in a yoga class, in a room full of people moving, learning & growing together, or simply in showing up for one another.

That’s why community sits at the heart of everything we do, from our retreats & training program to our yoga camp, creating spaces for people to connect, learn, rest & explore their own paths.

This Sunday, we’re grateful for the “we.” For the people who remind us that care doesn’t have to happen alone, & that rest can be a way of coming back to ourselves & to each other. 💖

Wellness & service were never meant to be separate. ✨

At Souljourn Yoga, we believe travel can be a force for good. That education creates opportunity. That yoga can be a tool for connection, bringing us closer to ourselves, to one another, & to the communities we visit.

Curiosity, connection, & compassion are at the heart of what we do. They shape every retreat, every training, & every partnership we build.

Because we believe meaningful travel is about more than what we experience or take away. It’s about showing up with intention, learning from one another, & creating relationships rooted in reciprocity.

Not consumption, but connection.
Not a getaway, but an exchange.
Not simply visiting, but being present.

That’s the Souljourn Yoga practice, on & off the mat. 🤍

“Color is a power which directly influences the soul.” — Wassily Kandinsky 🌈

There is something that happens when a plant becomes a pigment, the hands slow down, the colors surprise you, the cloth remembers what it touched. 🫐

This is botanical dye: flowers, bark, materials from nature otherwise overlooked that when worked slowly with care offer distinctive shades of indigo, warm ochre, & surprising pinks. 🌻

No experience necessary — just a willingness to get your hands a little stained & carry a piece of this dream home with you. ✨

This March 10-14, we’re heading to Tulum to the stunning NAJIL CHAK | TULUM ART RESIDENCE for our first-ever retreat in Mexico: Making + Moving, A Yoga + Botanical Dye Retreat with botanical dyer Down To Earth Goods indigo artist Karen Gutiérrez & SJY Founder Jordan Ashley, PhD 🇲🇽

💫 Each booking includes a $200 tax-deductible donation to Los Amigos De La Esquina A.C.

A circle has no hierarchy built into its shape. Everyone in it is on the same line. 🔵

That’s what makes it powerful. In a circle, you can’t hide in the back row & you can’t perform for the front. You just show up, & the group holds what you bring. 🩵

It’s also where mentorship lives. Last month at our On the Ground Yoga & Arts Camp with Project Blue , the young women connected each day with a different wellness practitioner, each one showing what it looks like to build a life around your own practice. ✨

Empowerment isn’t only what happens when a young woman steps forward to lead. It’s what happens in the circle first, when she realizes the whole room is supporting her. 🦋
