This is a really hard post for me to make. ❤️

Sandy Dog Rescue is one of the things I’m most proud of, and rescue has been one of the greatest joys of my life. There will always be another dog I want to save and another reason to say “just one more.”

But lately I’ve been learning that taking care of myself isn’t giving up; it’s necessary. I’m trying to get better at setting boundaries, slowing down, and trusting that it’s okay to take a break from something I love.

So after Remy finds his forever home, Sandy Dog Rescue will be taking a much-needed extended break. Until then, we won’t be taking in any new dogs so we can focus all of our energy on finding Remy the family he deserves. ❤️

This isn’t goodbye, and we’re not closing forever. Our hope is to come back one day when we’re ready to do this work in a way that’s healthy and sustainable.

To every foster, volunteer, donor, adopter, and supporter: thank you. Every life we’ve changed has been because of this incredible community. None of it would have been possible without you, and I will always be proud of what we’ve built together.

For now, we have one more mission:

Let’s find Remy his forever home. ❤️

We honestly don’t understand how Pippa is still waiting for her forever family. 🥺

She’s the total package:
🤍 Sweet and affectionate
🏡 Crate & potty trained
🐶 Loves other dogs
👧 Has done well with kids
🧸 Obsessed with toys
🦴 Loves learning new tricks (she’s one smart girl!)
🌿 Always up for an adventure

She’s the kind of dog that will make you smile every single day, and we know her perfect family is out there somewhere.

If you can’t adopt, the biggest favor you can do is share Pippa. Every share gives her another chance to be seen by the person who’s been looking for a dog just like her.

Let’s find this sweet girl the home she’s been waiting for. ❤️

Meet Lucky! 🩵

Lucky is a 9-month-old poodle/terrier mix who is looking for a new home.

His family has made the difficult decision to rehome him due to changes in their living situation, and we’re hoping our amazing community can help him find the right match.

A little about Lucky:
🐾 9 months old
🐾 Playful, energetic, and loves toys
🐾 Loves people and being held
🐾 Very tolerant of grooming and even dressing up
🐾 Crate, food, treats, clothes, collar, and leash will all go with him
🐾 Hasn’t had much socialization with other dogs yet, but with continued training and patience, he has so much potential

This is a courtesy post. Lucky is not in Sandy Dog Rescue’s care. We’re simply helping spread the word in hopes of finding him a wonderful home.

We can’t believe Pippa is still waiting for a home!!

Pippa is such an adorable, smart and sweet girl and will make an amazing companion or family dog. She loves to go on adventures, play with toys and learn new things. She’s crate & potty trained, dog & kid friendly. She’s about 1 year old and 15 lbs. She’s located in Orange County, CA. 💖

Thank you Wendy Alvarado for teaching her everything she knows and giving her all the love and care while she waits for her forever home!! 🙏💘

Our foster dogs made summer bucket lists... 🌞🌊

They’ve checked off a lot already:
✔️ Learned to trust again
✔️ Made new friends
✔️ Mastered the art of napping
✔️ Become very good dogs

There’s just one thing left:
Find their forever families.

Summer can be one of the slowest seasons for adoptions, which means these amazing dogs are still waiting while everyone else is making vacation plans and memories.

Remy’s first beach day 🌊❤️

When Remy first came to us, the world felt pretty scary. New people, new places, and new experiences can be overwhelming for a shy dog.

But with patient humans, a loving foster home, and his beloved foster sister by his side, this sweet boy is slowly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.

Watching him explore the beach for the very first time was pretty special. Every adventure makes his world a little bigger, and every day he grows a little braver.

Remy is an incredibly sweet boy who loves other dogs and is looking for a forever family willing to continue helping him build confidence at his own pace. We know that with the right family, this shy pup is going to blossom. ❤️

Chip is the best vibe & we’re so proud of him!

He’s a 1 year old, 48 lb, German Shepherd mix. He’s been doing great with dogs & kids, great on leash, and making progress really quickly in his crate. After being in and out of the shelter for the first year of his life, Chip is adjusting really well 🥹💙

Thank you to his amazing foster mom for showing him the ropes. 🙏🫶
