Partners in Justice International (PJI) provides practical support to serious crime prosecutors, victim representatives, and investigators because they are in the best position to open pathways to justice for victims where they live.

We are proud to be sharing our 2025 Annual Report, detailing all the vital work the PJI team and local partners have been accomplishing across the world.

2025 was not an easy year. Deep cuts to foreign aid slashed UN funding for justice projects around the world, including PJI's. The political climate turned more hostile to international accountability than we have seen in some time, and yet, the model we have built together held: local, grounded, practitioner-driven justice, one case file at a time.

• Eight countries.
• More than 300 justice practitioners, equipped to build cases against the world's worst crimes.
• Four police officers made to answer for charges in Kenya's first-ever domestic crimes against humanity case.
• Four military commanders sanctioned by the UK following our work on Sri Lanka.

For over a decade, PJI has had the privilege of supporting the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK), the Kosovo War Crimes Police, and other local actors in Kosovo as they pursue accountability for war crimes, including conflict-related sexual violence such as r**e and forced pregnancy, which disproportionately affect women and girls.

Upon SPRK’s invitation, PJI has accompanied our colleagues in capacity-building sessions focused on their cold cases from the 1998-1999 conflict. In these sessions, Kosovar justice actors sit down with their peers and PJI to discuss the best ways to pursue justice and gain a versatile toolkit for overcoming the challenges inherent to prosecuting international crimes with elements of sexual violence.

As part of our core commitment to prioritising victim-centred approaches to accountability work, PJI’s presence in Kosovo and collaboration with Kosovar state justice actors and victim lawyers consistently centres survivors through the justice process.

These fruitful partnerships directly advance PJI’s mission of assuring access to justice for victims and survivors of grave crimes wherever they live.

PJI is Hiring Legal Interns!

PJI welcomes applications from students completing a graduate degree in law (such as a JD or LLM) or with an undergraduate degree in law (such as an LLB) with equivalent professional experience to serve as interns for a 10-week period from (roughly) June to August each year.

Exceptional law students who do not meet all of these qualifications perfectly may be considered. PJI is now inviting applications for the 10-week term from June to August 2025.

PJI is seeking candidates with excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen interest in PJI’s mission to apply for sponsored legal fellowships. Ideal candidates have a demonstrated interest in international human rights law or international criminal law and are completing their final year of graduate law study (such as JD or LLM students), judicial clerks, or recent law graduates with an LLB and equivalent professional experience.

PJI is hiring a Development Director! Please consider joining our team.

Building on strong momentum, PJI seeks a Development Director who will develop, lead, and implement a comprehensive fundraising and institutional partnership strategy to sustain and grow PJI’s programmes.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, and requires an experienced development professional who can diversify and expand PJI’s funding from all available sources including foundations, individuals, aligned corporations, government agencies, and intergovernmental organizations.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to applications received before 19 December 2025.
