There’s nothing like the joy of music. 💛

In the Bidi Bidi refugee settlement in Northern Uganda, one of Africa’s largest refugee settlements, the Salam Music Program brings people together through music, dance, and the arts, creating a space to learn, connect, express themselves, and simply have fun.

Since 2021, more than 200 students each week have taken part in free music and arts activities across the settlement, through our partnership with refugee-led organization Sina Loketa.

These are the moments that remind us why access to music matters. 🎶

The Sound Space featured on Sony LIV much-loved show Kaun Banega Crorepati, alongside the incredible Amitabh Bachchan , Sunidhi Chauhan and Prasoon Joshi. ❤️

The feature helped shine a light on The Sound Space on Wheels — the mobile music classroom bringing the joy and power of music to underserved communities across Mumbai, and creating opportunities for children to learn, express themselves and discover their voices. 🎶

Here’s a little snippet from the episode that aired last Friday. Take a look, and see how music is travelling beyond the classroom and into the heart of communities that need it most.

🎶 Music, culture, and community in Cape Town.

PFCF’s work in the townships of Cape Town dates back to 2009 and has grown into the Imvula Music Program, reaching over 500 students every week across Gugulethu, Philippi, Nyanga, and Samora Machel.

Led by a local team of teachers and administrators, Imvula gives young people the opportunity to learn marimba, drums, guitar, vocals, saxophone, keyboard, and dance, while also providing daily snacks for students.

In communities shaped by the challenges of inequality and limited opportunities, music creates a space for creativity, connection, confidence, and possibility. ❤️

We’re proud to see these young musicians learning, growing, and making their voices heard. 🌍🎵

Huge thank you to our incredible partners at Nina Simone for all the support 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

🇳🇵The Kumari Dance🇳🇵

The Kumari, known as the Living Goddess of Kathmandu, is a centuries-old Nepalese tradition dating back more than 300 years. Chosen as a young girl from a Buddhist family, she is believed to embody the Hindu goddess Taleju.

In September, Kathmandu celebrates a festival honoring the Kumari alongside two other deities. The Kumari Dance, inspired by this sacred tradition, is performed and taught throughout Nepal as a way of preserving its rich cultural heritage. ✨

A 300-year-old tradition, still alive today. 🇳🇵✨

Today, we celebrate the generation shaping what comes next. 🌎

International Youth Day is a reminder that young people aren’t just the future, they’re creating change right now.

Through music, creativity, education, and community, young people are finding their voices, building connections, and imagining a more inclusive world.

At Playing For Change Foundation, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to be heard, empowered, and given the tools to create change.

The future is already making noise. Let’s listen. 🎶
