For the third year in a row, St. Joseph Center proudly hosted the Faith Leaders Fellowship Conference Brunch, bringing together faith-based leaders to connect, collaborate, and strengthen our collective impact in addressing poverty and homelessness across SPA 5 and greater LA County.

Thank you to Cornerstone West Los Angeles Church for hosting this inspiring gathering and to all who joined us to share ideas, resources, and solutions.

A special congratulations to our SPA 5 Faith-Based Coordinator, Sonya Grey, on being elected to the Westside Coalition Board of Directors! Your leadership and dedication continue to make a lasting impact, and we’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved achievement.

In an era of shifting policies and significant budget uncertainty, how can leaders effectively steer their organizations through the storm?

St. Joseph Center President and CEO Dr. Ryan J. Smith will be speaking, along with panelists NAEH Chief Equity Officer Mary Frances Kenion and Pathways to Housing DC’s Dr. Gwendolyn Harter, in a critical discussion at the 2026 National Conference on Ending Homelessness and Capitol Hill Day hosted by National Alliance to End Homelessness.

Yesterday, Joi Richardson, St. Joseph Center Vice President of External Affairs, testified at the Board of Supervisors to protect voter-approved Measure J funding. A technical loophole put these vital county housing funds at risk, but thanks to the Board’s vote, these critical resources for our unhoused neighbors remain protected.

Thank you to Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell and Supervisor Lindsey P Horvath for your leadership in keeping our community investments safe.

As we celebrate 50 years of impact at St. Joseph Center alongside a historic milestone in America, we know that independence is also about looking out for each other. Hear directly from community members like Malik, Isis, Derek, Trinity, and Elijah on what stability means to them. From securing housing to providing mental health and youth resources, we are here every day giving our neighbors hope for what is possible.

With local hospital visits for smoke inhalation spiking following the recent Lineage Logistics Warehouse Fire, we’re grateful that St. Joseph Center was able to distribute air purifiers to our dear neighbors in the Boyle Heights area who have been suffering from the impact of the incident.

Thank you United Way of Greater Los Angeles for donating the purifiers. This project is funded in part by L.A. Care Health Plan.

This , St. Joseph Center celebrates freedom while honoring the relentless spirit of Opal Lee, the "Grandmother of Juneteenth". At 90 years old, she launched a walking campaign from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to demand national recognition for the holiday. She intentionally walked 2.5 miles every day to symbolize the 2.5 years that passed after the Emancipation Proclamation before enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. Her historic campaign directly paved the way for Juneteenth to become a federal holiday in 2021. Opal Lee proved that a single voice, driven by purpose, can move an entire nation.

Her legacy is a powerful reminder of why the fight for equity, dignity, and a stable place to call home matters every single day for the unhoused and those experiencing homelessness.
