💙💛 WE DID IT. 💛💙

Today is a huge win for kids fighting childhood cancer — and it happened because our community refused to stay silent.

We are so proud to share that historic legislation has now been signed into law, advancing pediatric cancer research, care, and access to treatment across the U.S.

This funding package includes the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act, the STAR Act, increased funding for the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, and support for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative.

This moment is the result of years of advocacy — families sharing their stories, supporters refusing to give up, and communities showing up again and again.

Every email sent.
Every call made.
Every post shared.
Every child’s story bravely told.

All of it helped carry this moment across the finish line.

And while today marks real progress, it is not the finish line.

Too many children still lack access to the treatments they need.
Too many families are still navigating outdated options.
Too much research remains underfunded.

This victory matters — but it also reminds us how much more must be done.

At Glimmers, we remain fully committed to our mission: pushing for better treatments, stronger funding, and a future where childhood cancer is no longer a life-threatening diagnosis.

Thank you to every parent, student, volunteer, and supporter who stood with children who deserve better options, better treatments, and better outcomes.

Today, we celebrate.
Tomorrow, we keep working.

A moment of reflection during such a beautiful season, but also a time of unconscious busyness and also nostalgia, grief and trauma. For childhood cancer families there’s a lot of crisis moments, and horrible moments of pain and sometimes worse news. But then there are also moments of quiet reflection, truly tender connections, intimacy, and deep presence, especially with your most intimate relationships. There’s the noticing of the astounding beauty in nature and the vibration of our collective connectedness. If you are able to simply breathe without struggle or even walk without intense pain then consider yourself so blessed and want nothing more but to be more present and be of service. And to those who are struggling with illness, especially a child having cancer : I see you. We are forever in service to making bold progress in Kids cancer research and advocacy. May the Glimmers shine the brightest on your journey and abundance of presence and healing 🫶✨🎗️

It’s Giving Tuesday! ✨🎗️This year, our End-of-Year Giving Campaign is dedicated to the incredibly beautiful teen Gabrielle Wei, who sadly passed away on November 30 after fighting an aggressive bone cancer. We honor her strength, her spirit, and her family. Her passing is a devastating reminder of the urgent need for better treatments for all kids and their families impacted by childhood cancer.

Our commitment is absolute: every donated dollar goes directly to the most cutting-edge pediatric cancer research focused on sarcoma. No overhead. No dilution. Immediate impact where it matters most.

And this season, we have a matching donor, allowing your support to go even further!

Honor Ava. Honor Gabrielle. Honor all families carrying the weight of childhood cancer and give hope for less toxic and more effective treatments.

Donate today and help change the future for children fighting cancer.

On Monday, December 1, the House will vote on the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act — a bill Mikaela bravely advocated for in September before passing away from osteosarcoma. Enacting legislation that prioritizes children fighting cancer is critically needed. Kids and families cannot wait any longer for better, safer treatments.

This is extremely important, and it will take you no more than 30 seconds to make an impact.

Ava never said F% #* but this was her honest reaction when she was told that her cancer had spread while in treatment and she was now considered terminal because no new treatments were created for her cancer in over 50 years simply due to lack of funding. Tears flowing down her cheek, clenched fists, holding the collective sorrow for all kids who have been so horribly impacted by cancer and the lack of prioritizing funding research for better treatments. Her reaction was healthy, authentic, valid and necessary. What she did with her outrage is something we can all be inspired by … she harnessed it for bold purpose.

We can send celebrity’s to the moon, work from our phones, and we’ve even made remarkable progress in adult cancers but kids cancer is still grossly underfunded.

This awareness was painful but a clarity filled her world as she was determined to use the remaining months of her life to take meaningful action by designing a nonprofit called Glimmers Childhood Cancer Foundation. She didn’t want to use her name as she wanted it to be symbolic for the countless children impacted by cancer.

When outrage is grounded in truth, compassion, presence and purpose it becomes sacred and divine. The path forward was a legacy foundation whose mission is bold progress for kids fighting cancer. Ava was so clear in her mission to help other kids fighting cancer by designing a vision for her nonprofit that would not only fund every donated dollar to the most cutting-edge kids cancer research but would also mobilize a mass movement for change and advocacy with the goal to discover less toxic and more effective treatments for kids fighting cancer.

Bread crumbing kids cancer research kills. 4% is not nearly enough for kids suffering from highly toxic outdated treatments to treat their cancer. Often times kids die from the treatment as it destroys their internal organs, or the treatment simply isn’t effective enough to kill the cancer. More than 90% of the survivors will have serious lifelong health issues. Our founder 13 year old Ava Decker was receiving the same highly toxic and barbaric treatment that was created over 50 years ago simply because we haven’t discovered new less toxic and more effective treatments. If we prioritize kids cancer research then WE CAN AND WE WILL MAKE BOLD PROGRESS SO KIDS FIGHTING CANCER HAVE A CHANCE AND DON’T HAVE TO SUFFER UNNECESSARILY.

This crisis is Our Why.
