Great news from Senegal! 🇸🇳 Thanks to dedicated project funding from , 127 young fruit and medicinal trees have safely arrived in the Senegal River Valley and are now officially planted in the forest in Lahel!

This milestone covers about half a hectare of land, expanding vital food security, shade, and natural resources for local communities. The local REDES teams are doing incredible work on the ground, but there is still so much more land to restore...

We are so proud to continue supporting ! Through , we recently sent dedicated funds so local teams could purchase all these fruit trees! 🌳✨

These trees will be taken to the north of Senegal to reinforce the growing food and medicinal forest in the region.

How do you unite communities across a border? You start by bringing the elders together! 🌍🕊️

When Redes Ecovillages convened meetings with village elders from both Mauritania and Senegal on a barren stretch of land, they laid the foundation for transboundary peace and ecological regeneration. 🤝🌿

What began under simple tents in harsh conditions led to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bring together 50 villages in Senegal and 50 villages in Mauritania. Together, they are reforesting, learning, and building bridges of cooperation across borders! ✨

At Earth Rights Institute, we believe that community-led initiatives and ecovillage models are essential tools for peacebuilding and environmental restoration. We are proud to support REDES in their transformative work through Global Regenerative Immersion Program (GRIP)! 🇸🇳🇲🇷💚

Did you know an eco-village project helped de-escalate tensions between two nations? 🌍✨

In the Sahel region, what began as a border conflict between Senegal and Mauritania ultimately led to peace between the two countries through founding ecovillages with Redes Ecovillages .

Neighboring communities built a community center together, creating a shared space that strengthened their relationships and proved that ecological regeneration is one of the most powerful tools for peacebuilding! 🕊️✨

At Earth Rights Institute (ERI), we deeply believe that ecovillages play a vital role in building lasting peace and community-led development. We are proud to collaborate with REDES on their transformative projects, especially through Global Regenerative Immersion Program (GRIP) (ERI’s Lab.) 🌿🤝
