As we work on our 2025 Annual Report, we're reflecting on a year that brought significant challenges for nonprofits.

To help meet the moment, we expanded our support with our digital hub of Special Resources for Uncertain Times; enhanced Executive Director/CEO Roundtables; the launch of a new Ask an Expert series that connected nonprofit leaders directly with specialists in HR, fundraising, and people and culture; and, of course, our SLO County Nonprofits Get it Done public education campaign.

We're proud of how our nonprofit community continues to show up, adapt and move forward in challenging times. Stay tuned for our full Annual Report coming soon!

Happy World Oceans Day! 🌊 On this , we're celebrating Morro Bay National Estuary Program and their incredible work protecting and restoring the Morro Bay estuary.

Through research, habitat restoration, water quality monitoring, and community education, they help keep this special place healthy for both people and wildlife. Their collaborative approach brings together residents, landowners, organizations, and agencies to achieve lasting conservation results.

Thank you for being such dedicated stewards of one of our community's greatest treasures and for your commitment to strengthening your impact through Spokes!

In honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, we're proud to spotlight Spokes member End Kids Cancer.

End Kids Cancer is dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer research and helping improve outcomes for children and families facing a cancer diagnosis. Their work helps bring hope to young patients and contributes to the search for better treatments and cures.

We had a great time last week at our Using Data to Strengthen Your Story for Funders workshop!

Together, we explored how nonprofits can think outside the box when it comes to data collection, including creative ways to gather meaningful information beyond the traditional survey (survey fatigue, anyone? 🙋🏽‍♀️).

We also learned about different “data bird” donor personalities and how to tailor data and impact stories to resonate with the audiences and funders we're trying to reach.

A huge thank you to Laura Keene of Keene Insights and Becca Carsel from Carsel Consulting Group for leading such an engaging training for our nonprofit community!

Nonprofit leaders, don't miss this important and timely conversation!

Next week at our ED/CEO Roundtable, we’ll discuss upcoming changes to Medi-Cal and CalFresh requirements, what they may mean for the communities nonprofits serve, and how volunteer opportunities could potentially help participants meet new engagement requirements.

Hear updates from local experts, ask questions, and connect with fellow nonprofit leaders navigating these changes together.
