SLOCA families, did you receive your 2026 Summer Packet? In it, you will find a plethora of reading recommendations, including some required reads for our staff (we love when you read along with us), such as Beowulf, Hamlet, and The Arabian Nights. These are all books on our Beyond book list (bonus)! Additionally, there are many wonderful books to get you excited and prepped for next year's history cycle: medieval times!

This is it—the last week of school! It's time to start making summer plans and think of creative ways to spend some family time together.

This month we have the perfect idea to help get you started! Quick Pickle Kit is a locally-owned business developed by two women using 100-year-old family recipes. The Quick Pickle Kit provides a safe, quick, simple, and natural way to pickle any vegetable with minimal effort. This is a fun DIY and educational activity that the whole family can enjoy, while learning some science, history, and how to make healthy food plus reduce food waste.

As our community joins in 20 acts of service to celebrate SLOCA's 20th anniversary, Mrs. Perneel's primary class is hosting a PET FOOD DRIVE for Woods Humane Society! Starting May 18 and running until June 4, there will be boxes for donations in Room 3 and in the front office at our Grand Campus. All cat and dog food brands are accepted!
