PROVE is a student led organization in Cal Poly based around the design and development of innovative alternative energy vehicles and STEM outreach.

PROVE Lab started in fall of 2015 at Cal Poly with the goal to design and build the world’s fastest solar powered car, as well as run an in-depth STEM outreach program. We are a completely student-run organization composed of students from all majors, ages, and backgrounds. We work closely with our instructional advisor Dr. Graham Doig who assists in all facets of the PROVE Lab mission. By June 2017 we plan to break the world-record for the world's fastest solar powered car in the Mojave Desert. In conjunction with this, we plan to run a STEM outreach program to middle and high schools. We will lead students through the process of building a solar powered car from a kit, over the course of multiple weeks, which will spark student’s interest in STEM and STEM-related careers. Finally, we will bring our record-breaking car on tours to other colleges as well as providing a summer internship for high school students.

The good times just keep on coming…

PROVE held an alumni social event this Saturday to reunite old friends, present team and project progress, and connect alumni with current members and recruits.

The alumni toured our new lab space — many of whom had last seen Mila as just a CAD model — followed by dinner, speeches, and an open Q&A. Thank you to everyone who could make it, especially the alumni who were generous with their time, advice, and all around good vibes. Till next time!

Sunshine, tri-tip sandwiches, duck duck goose, recruits… man, does it get better than this?*

Today, PROVE hosted a recruitment social event in hopes of fostering a comfortable space to meet others, ask questions, and mingle outside of campus. We played lots of games, ate lots of food, and shared lots of laughs. Looking forward to onboarding an awesome array of new folk!

*No, it doesn’t.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to all the clubs and companies that joined PROVE for its Fall 2022 networking event! What a success!

Companies:

Clubs:

The event aimed to pair industry leaders with experienced students from technical engineering clubs. Each organization was given time to share about themselves, their mission, and the opportunities available for networking, partnerships, and internships/careers!

All is good in the hood!

Thanks to our Aeroshell team, both halves of Mila’s hood mold are now complete and ready for layup!

Well, if Apple was able to start out of a garage…

BEHOLD OUR NEW LAB SPACE! Thanks to all the hands that have helped clean this space out (special shout out to Ro, Caleb, and Scott), the team is ready to begin moving from our work station at Bonderson to the Aero Hangar.

We know it’s a sharp turn from our pre-COVID space at the military base (if any alumni remember that luxury), but we’re ecstatic to be stationed in an accessible and designated on-campus space. Can’t wait to see the lab come to life!

Huge shout out to these two! Scott and Ro have both held positions as Manufacturing Lead, spearheading all sorts of machining, welding, and integration needs while overseeing several other members in the lab space.

These two also also win “most likely to camp out at the lab space” and “best looking welders.” The team loves you guys! (And the car’s looking amazing on wheels, too!)

PROVE is hosting its first in-person alumni event on Saturday October 15, 2022!

We are eager to unite current and graduated members and provide a space for alumni to reconnect with one another, with Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo, and with PROVE’s recent happenings.

Please share the date with fellow alumni who may not pass this post, and stay tuned for event details!

We’re on wheels! (Get it?) A handful of our members gather monthly to dress up, hang out, and bike around downtown alongside the rest of the San Luis Obispo community.

If you haven’t attended a Bike Night, did you really attend Cal Poly? Reach out to any of the faces in these pics to join us for future first-Thursdays!
