University City Community Association UCCA promotes civic, cultural, social, educational, recreational development and improvement in UC.

The University City Community Association (UCCA) is a non-profit (501C4) organization funded through membership dues which provides and promotes civic, cultural, social, educational and recreational development and improvement in University City (a neighborhood of San Diego, CA); and provides a forum where the interests of the residents may be expressed and contributions made to the protection of

life and property in the community. Your UCCA membership dues make a big difference in our community. These funds help support our many worthwhile organizations, (i.e. public schools’ fundraising, Standley Park, EdUCate, Neighborhood Watch, Garden Club, lmproveUC, Buy Local) as well as many special projects and activities such as Buy Local, median beautification, painted electrical boxes and street banners, 4th of July Celebration, summer concerts, December holiday tree lighting, and our monthly newsletter delivered to your home and/or business. Thank you for making University City more than a neighborhood.

Thank goodness the fire has been contained! And thank you to our firefighters and all first responders.

Due to the ongoing fire suppression and recovery efforts of today's Sorrento fire, all trails within Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve and Del Mar Mesa in the Sorrento Valley and Rancho Peñasquitos communities are temporarily closed.

While the main fire has been knocked down, fire crews will remain in the area over the next 24+ hours to monitor hot spots and strengthen containment lines.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work to ensure the area is safe for the public. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Maintain situational awareness! Sorrento Valley is just up the road. our thoughts and prayers are with our friends at Sorrento Valley Town Council . San Diego PD are directing the evacuations; San Diego FD are using multiple assets to fight this fire. For current information about evacuations, check the Genasys Protect app at: https://protect.genasys.com/

Evacuation orders and evacuation warnings are in place due to a rapidly evolving incident in the Sorrento Valley area.

Because conditions and evacuation boundaries can change quickly, we are not listing specific zones in this post. For the most current official evacuation map, boundaries, orders, and warnings, go directly to Genasys:

📍 Temporary Evacuation Point:
Regents Road and Eastgate Mall

🚧 Road Closure:
Sorrento Valley Boulevard is closed between Vista Sorrento Parkway and Camino Santa Fe.

🔴 Evacuation Order:
An evacuation order means there is an immediate threat to life and safety. People in the affected area should leave now. Do not delay to gather belongings or wait for additional notifications. Follow the directions of emergency personnel and leave the area as safely and quickly as possible.

🟡 Evacuation Warning:
An evacuation warning means there is a potential threat to life and safety. People in the affected area should get ready to leave. Gather essential items, medications, pets, important documents, and anything you need to safely evacuate. Make a plan for where you will go and be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice if conditions change.

❗ If you feel unsafe, do not wait for an official order. Leave immediately.

Please continue to monitor us and San Diego Fire-Rescue on social media for updates. Social media posts can quickly become outdated during a fast-moving incident, so Genasys is the best place to find current official evacuation information.
