🔥Man…People really underestimate what it takes to run a nonprofit.

A nonprofit is still a business, y’all!

You still have payroll, budgets, fundraising, marketing, staffing, reporting, partnerships, programming, compliance, events, leadership, community relationships…

and the constant pressure of trying to make an impact with limited resources!💯

👉🏾And unlike many businesses, if you make too many mistakes, real people are affected.

I love what I do but, it’s definitely harder without my partner 💔 It can be very heavy.

You gotta have vision, strategy, emotional strength, sacrifice, and consistency most people never see behind the scenes.💙

I don’t think nonprofits fail because the mission isn’t needed, I believe our mission is essential to the Black community. I think they fail because the weight of carrying the mission is enormous.

🔥The Vision Is Finally Coming to Life : The Blue Heart Teen Center! 🔥 💙

After years of praying, planning, persevering, and believing… we are FINALLY seeing major progress on the future home of The Blue Heart Foundation Teen Center. 💙

In just TWO DAYS after signing on the dotted line, we have seen more movement than we could have imagined, walls going up, ceilings painted, insulation installed, windows cleaned and real transformation happening before our eyes. What once felt distant is finally becoming REAL for our Young Blues.

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank our Executive Director, Tammy T. Blevins, for stepping in, taking initiative, and helping push this vision forward with urgency and care. Thank you to our longtime Board Member, Lan Jefferson, whose connection and recommendation helped lead us to the right people at the right time.

From wood frames to Walls!!! 😍

A very special thank you to David and Goliath Construction for taking on this project with passion, and purpose. They literally have their team working days, nights and weekends to get this job done. It is clear that this is more than just a job to your team, you truly want to see our young men have a safe space to thrive.

We are also deeply grateful to Henry L. Foster III and County Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe for recognizing our need and helping move this long-awaited project forward. Your support means more than words can express.

This Teen Center was a dream deeply rooted in the vision of our late Founder and Executive Director, Tracy Morris. To finally watch it come to life after so many years is emotional, inspiring, and a reminder that purpose always finds a way forward.

DATE OF COMPLETION: AUGUST 1ST

The future of Blue Heart is bright — and this is only the beginning. 💙🙏🏾

💙✨ Another Powerful Moment Inside Our Mindful Heart Academy ✨💙

Our Mentor Connection this weekend was something special. We were blessed to welcome back Blue Heart Alum, Dallas Edge, who came to pour into his Blue Heart brothers.

Dallas graduated from the University of San Diego and earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is now a licensed clinical counselor, and hearing him share his journey after high school and why he chose the field of mental health was inspiring.

Watching our alumni come back strong these last two years has been incredible. This was always Tracy, our founder's dream: that our young men wouldn’t just graduate… they would return to lift as they climb. 💙👑

👉Then our very own Youth Coach, Christopher D. Ransom led an extremely impactful teen discussion forum. He asked three powerful questions:

• “What do you think people misunderstand about you?”
• “What stresses you out the most right now?”
• “What does it mean to ‘be a man’ to you?”

And our Young Blues were locked in! 🔥

They opened up. They reflected. They spoke honestly. Because this is a safe space. A space where they can unpack what they’re carrying and learn more about who they are.

This is exactly why the Mindful Heart Academy exists. Yes, we can help them get into college and careers. But if we don’t strengthen their mental health, build their confidence, and help them understand their identity and power... then none of it truly matters.

We are building WHOLE young men. And that work is happening right here. 💙🔥👑

💙👑 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 👑💙
Mateo Cook | Blue Heart Class of 2024
Time in Blue Heart: 4 YEARS

We are SO proud to shine a light on one of our own... Mateo Cook! Mateo spent four years in the Blue Heart ecosystem before graduating in 2024, and look at him now! 🔥

Mateo is currently attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and has secured an Undergraduate Internship in Nanoscience & Technology at Argonne National Laboratory in DuPage, Illinois! 🧪✨

Yes… NATIONAL LABORATORY. Let that sink in.

Here’s what Mateo shared:

"As an Undergraduate Intern in Nanoscience & Technology at Argonne National Laboratory, I research nanoscale materials that control how light is produced and emitted. My work focuses on synthesizing and studying thin-film materials to improve efficiency, stability, and performance for optoelectronic devices. I'm excited by how small changes at the nanoscale can lead to major technological advances and by contributing to impactful, real-world research at a national laboratory."

But what makes this even more special? 💙

Mateo hasn’t just gone off to do amazing things, he’s come back. Over the years, he has returned to mentor, encourage, and pour into his Blue Heart brothers. That’s leadership. That’s legacy. That’s full circle. 👑

From Blue Heart workshops to cutting-edge scientific research, this is what commitment to excellence looks like.

We are beyond proud of you, Mateo. Thank you for staying connected. Thank you for giving back. Thank you for your commitment to excellence. 💙🔥
