The San Diego Old Aztecs Rugby Football Club is fielding a competitive SCRFU Division I side for the 2025-26 season.

Thanks to Noodle Bagz for hosting another thrilling NBZ Beach Touch World Championships, not even a “hurricane” could slow down a beach full of SoCal rugby’s finest (and a few international stars 👀).

After the tournament, we had a few competitors who threw their hat in the ring for Mr. OB Oktoberfest, with Frenchy taking the crown to make it an Old Aztecs 3-peat!

It was a great day and great way to wrap up the offseason, we’re looking forward to the start of official training coming up on Tues 10/20; See you there!

NEW TIME AND LOCATION!!!

The ramp up to the Regular Season continues this Thursday as we have another Offseason Touch Rugby & Conditioning Sessions!

We will be meeting 3 more Thursdays (off October 1st, for our Club AGM) from 6:15-7:15pm at Bonita Cove/Mission Bay Park, where we will play some Touch Rugby and start to build a conditioning base for the season. (Last session will be 10/15, as training begins Tues 10/20.) All are welcome to come out, we hope you’ll join us for some fitness and fun!

As we start to look ahead to the upcoming ‘26-27 season, we’d like to share a huge thank you to everyone who helped the club and team(s) run this season, our Executive Committee and Coaching Staff(s)!

We thank our 2026 EC and Coaches for all their hard work and dedication they’ve put into the club, and look forward to electing our new EC at our club AGM on October 1st at The Ould Sod in North Park!

We are excited to announce our first annual Bowling Fundraising Event, coming up on Saturday, September 19th from 12:00-3:00pm at Mira Mesa Lanes! For $300, a team of 6 players will get bowling, shoes, pizza, and beer/drinks covered for the event!

As the calendar flips to September, here’s a look ahead to some of our offseason club events, culminating in our first official training of the season on Tues 10/20!

First up, will be having a bowling fundraising event on Sat 9/19, and there’s still plenty of time to get your team signed up! Our 26-27’ Club AGM will take place on Thurs 10/1; then, on Sat 10/10, we will be participating in the Noodle Bagz Beach Touch World Championships at Ocean Beach.

We head into the off-season with our final action of Summer ‘26, a friendly scrimmage against San Diego Armada Rugby! We will start the day at 9:00am with a 15s scrimmage to help prep Armada for their upcoming Bingham Cup trip, and finish the day off with some 10s and 7s to round out a fun day of San Diego rugby!

We hope to see you out there at the beautiful Coronado Cays Park; bring your boots, you may even get a run in!

What a day it was! To conclude a great 34th edition of OASIS, the Old Aztecs were able to come out on top as Cup Champs!

The Old Aztecs: Robb Field Drift faced tough pool play opponents in the USA Maharlikans, Beach Cities, and Santa Barbara, but were able to come out 3-0 to advance to the Cup Semis. Facing LARC, we were able to win a thrilling back-and-forth match, scoring on the final play to advance to the Cup Final. In the Final, an impressive Scottsdale team took an early lead, but a strong second half provided us the opportunity to come back and once again win on a last second try!!!

2 Old 2 Aztecs didn’t quite have the same success on the scoreboard, but a lot of newer Old Aztecs got a lot of quality minutes on the field on an overall great day of rugby!
