Introducing the 2026 Board of Directors of the Ocean Beach Community Foundation.

The OB Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization led by a Board of community-elected Directors, five committees, sponsors, donors and hundreds of volunteers who truly bring this community-led work to life.

Each Board Director is elected by the community to serve a two-year term and is committed to engaging in committees and events that make OB an incredible place to live, work and connect with neighbors. To learn more, volunteer or become a member, visit obcommunityfoundation.org.

Founded in 2000, the OBCF has more than two decades of history serving OBceans. Since then, the OBCF has become the leader of events the community knows and loves as traditions for families, friends and community.

Thank you to everyone who voted and participated in this year’s election. We greatly appreciate your involvement and membership in OBCF. 🙏

The Ocean Beach Community Foundation has opened nominations for our 2026 Board of Directors election. We have 5+ open seats and are looking for people who genuinely love this town and want to help keep it running.

When the OB Town Council dissolved, OBCF stepped up to carry on traditions that have been part of this community for more than 40 years — including the Holiday Parade, Pancake Breakfast, Restaurant Walk, Food & Toy Drive, Santa Experience at Veterans Plaza and Holiday Auction. These events happen because a small group of volunteers shows up and does the work.

We need more of us.

The board meets once a month, and most members contribute about 5 hours a month between meetings and committee work.
We’re especially looking for people with strengths in marketing or social media, accounting or finance, grant writing or fundraising, event planning, advocacy or civic engagement — or simply a love for OB and the willingness to show up.

You don’t need a résumé — you just need to live, work or own property in 92107.

To become a candidate, submit a 1–2 paragraph bio and headshot through the candidate form in our LinkTree by Friday, March 27. Then plan to attend our Community Forum + Election Night on April 9 at 7 p.m. at Ocean Beach Elementary. Voting opens after the forum.

🚨 VETERAN’S PLAZA CLOSURE ⤵️

The City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department has announced an 8-week closure of the Veterans Plaza grassy area to conduct intensive maintenance starting February 5th through an estimated completion date of April 9th, 2026. 🗓️

🌱This project aims to repair damage from salt and sand exposure by aerating the soil, laying new grass seed, and fertilizing the grounds. 🚜

🚧This is a proactive measure designed to ensure the lawn is healthy and resilient for the upcoming summer season, so residents are asked to please respect all temporary fencing and signage to allow the new turf time to fully recover. 🌊

The streets are looking a whole lot brighter! ☀️🌊

Huge thank you to the 35+ neighbors who spend their morning with us for our first Community Cleanup of the year! It was incredible seeing so many folks roll up their sleeves to take care of our backyard. This is exactly the type of energy that keeps 92107 special.

Missed out?? We’re running it back on the last Saturday of every month!

Our next cleanup will be held on Saturday, February 28th from 9am-11am 🧹🤝

It’s easy to talk about the issues. It’s harder to roll up your sleeves and do something about them. In 2025, Ocean Beach chose action. 🌊

Here is the 2025 Year in Review for the OB Task Force on Homelessness (a subcommittee of OBCF).

In just 5 months (with zero funding and a whole lot of local grit), we saw what happens when a community stops waiting for permission and starts helping.

The Highlights:

- Helped multiple unsheltered individuals find shelter, housing, and services.

- 350 hours donated by volunteers who care about this zip code.

- Direct pipelines built with City and County resources that used to overlook us.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about ensuring the unique spirit of 92107 includes looking out for the most vulnerable among us.

We have a bold goal for 2026: A 10% reduction in our unsheltered count through compassion and real solutions.

Want to be part of the solution? Slide into our DMs or check the link in our bio to join the next monthly meeting.
