Today, we mourn the loss of Dolores Huerta, a lifelong advocate for farmworkers, women, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people.

The Center has always looked up to her work and her courage. During her lifetime, she stood with our community: serving on the board of Equality California, speaking out against Prop 8, and helping move the fight for equality forward across California.

Her words will keep guiding us: Sí, se puede.

🕊️ Rest in power, Dolores.

Thank you to our readers Kirk Brown, Eboni Muse, William BJ Robinson, Kevane La’Marr Coleman, Amira Temple, Winnie Beasley, Iverson Harding, and Yasmina Devos. Thank you also to Bil Wright for curating and directing, and to Mounarath Powell Dance for their support.

🧡💀🌼What a beautiful celebration of culture, identity, and community!

Yesterday’s Festival Mictlan brought our community together as part of San Diego Pride’s Latine Pride event, through a collaboration between Latin@x Services at The Center and San Diego Pride’s LGBTQ Latine Coalition.

As we prepare to celebrate Día de los Mu***os, Festival Mictlan offers a space to honor loved ones who have passed and celebrate the cultural traditions that keep their memories alive.

Congratulations to Psyche Calderon Vargas (she/her), Director of Latin@x Services at The Center, on a successful Festival Mictlan! Thank you for your dedication to creating spaces where our LGBTQ+ Latine community can celebrate our traditions, connect, and belong.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this celebration to life, and everyone who joined us!
