October is Perinatal Loss Awareness Month
Pregnancy and infant loss can be deeply painful experiences, and no one should have to navigate grief alone. Whether a loss occurs during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after, every loss matters.

World ADHD Awareness Month!

“My child can’t focus. What does that mean?”

Difficulty focusing doesn’t automatically mean a child has ADHD. Inattention can have many underlying causes, and understanding the why is the first step toward helping your child thrive.

What else can affect focus?
• Anxiety or depression
• Trauma or family stress
• Learning or developmental differences
• Sleep difficulties
• Challenges in the school environment

Look beyond the behavior. A child who struggles to concentrate may be communicating that something else is going on. ADHD is one possibility, but a thorough evaluation helps identify the underlying cause and determine the most appropriate support or treatment. This includes looking at symptoms over time and across settings, such as home and school. The goal isn’t just to improve attention. It’s to understand your child’s needs and help them succeed.

If your child is struggling to focus, start a conversation with their pediatrician or healthcare provider. Early understanding can make a meaningful difference!

On World Mental Health Day, let’s talk about tics in children.

Did you know that transient tics may affect 11–20% of school-age children at some point during childhood?

Tics are sudden, repetitive movements or vocalizations, such as eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, or throat clearing. They are not intentional behaviors, and children may feel an urge or uncomfortable sensation before a tic occurs.

Tics often begin in childhood and may come and go over time. Stress and lack of sleep can make tics worse and tics may decrease when a child is relaxed or focused on an activity.

Awareness builds understanding. To learn more, please view here - https://www.vistahillccyp.org/tic-disorder-diagnosis-prevalence-and-treatment-11-12-25/
