"We celebrate World Environment Day to raise awareness and inspire action for the protection of the environment. We know that most emissions and food waste come from large systems – not households. Rescuing food from stores and distributors tackles waste where it happens.🌱

Thank you to Vinya: vino + vinyasa for their support through the Holiday Sip-N-Shop on Nov. 29!

They raised $113.55 to support our efforts to reduce food waste and increase access to nutritious food for all. We could not be more grateful for our partnerships with local small businesses like Vinya!

Vinya is located in Clairemont. They are the first and only yoga studio & wine bar with a full kitchen - plus a retail boutique featuring local artists and artisans - in one community space.

Healthy Day Partners is partnering with Denver's Fresh Food Connect team to support home and community gardeners in San Diego to grow more fresh food to nourish neighbors and strengthen our local food system.

We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for empowering food gardeners and building a healthier, more resilient community.

When school ends, many kids lose access to daily meals.🏫☀️

Here's how you can help:
👉Donate kid-friendly, easy-to-use items like:
• Peanut butter & nut butters
• Canned proteins (tuna, beans, chicken)
• Shelf-stable snacks
• Fruit cups & applesauce

👉Volunteer to help sort, pack, and distribute food to families with children home for the summer. Your time = full bellies.

Drop off your donations (9am-4:30pm Mon-Sat) or give online to make sure kids have the food they need while school is out. Every item you donate keeps a family fed, supported, and cared for.🫶

World Hunger Day was created to acknowledge the ongoing crisis of food insecurity around the world. Today, we recognize the global scale of food insecurity as well as the importance of creating sustainable systems to provide communities with nutritious food.

There are many meaningful ways to take part in World Hunger Day and contribute to lasting change:
1. Support sustainable, local agriculture.🌾
2. Learn more about insecurity.🔍
3. Spread awareness of the root causes of food insecurity.🤳
4. Reach out to your local representatives and advocate for sustainable policies.☎️

On Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who served, and we also recognize the struggle of military families in our communities. No one deserves to go without, and nearly a quarter of active-duty service members experience food insecurity (Feeding America).

Making healthy food accesible to those who serve is how we serve by committed to create a sustainable food systems they can access. 💙❤️

New changes to SNAP/CalFresh are coming soon – namely, work/volunteer requirements to maintain eligibility.

Placing this burden on those who are already struggling is not what Porchlight stands for. This requirement creates another barrier to food access, which is exactly what we're trying to get rid of.

Right now, our mission is to make sure we stay educated and prepared with our doors wide open – to community members receiving food and to any volunteers looking to complete hours. If you're a SNAP/CalFresh recipient or know folks who are, spread the word. Volunteer hours can be completed with us.

The National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 9 showed the impact of community – 12,840 pounds of food donated by neighbors, picked up by USPS drivers, and sorted by YOU!💪

We are heartbroken by the attack that took place at the Islamic Center of San Diego yesterday. We stand in solidarity with the Muslim community, and we stand for the safety, dignity, and belonging of each and every one of our neighbors. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy.
