The Innovative Mobility Program is accepting pre-applications for a federally funded opportunity for capital and equipment grants for shared mobility services, including micromobility and microtransit, that improve access to public and active transportation for under-resourced groups.

Save the date for our October Statewide Virtual Meeting on October 13, 2026, in honor of Pedestrian Safety Month. The ODOT SRTS team will share tips and resources for pedestrian safety education for the school year and discuss how to promote pedestrian safety before Halloween. We will go over current resources and take time to break into focus groups to discuss successes and challenges with implementing pedestrian safety education in SRTS programs. As always, the meeting will include time to meet with your SRTS Hub. We hope to see you there! International Walk+Roll Day Is October 7, 2026! As usual, ODOT has free incentives available to help you celebrate International Walk+Roll to School Day. School is back in session for most Oregon students in September from kindergarteners to high school seniors. It’s a good time to remind everyone to watch out for students.

⚠️ Drivers should stop ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­and stay stopped for people in crosswalks. Be alert for school buses: flashing yellow lights mean you should prepare to stop, and flashing red lights mean you must stop.

Follow the instructions from school crossing guards, who help kids cross the street safely. Always remember to avoid distractions and pay attention to the speed limit on residential streets and school zones. Read the latest ODOT news release, "New school year, same need to drive safe". 🎒💙

We are excited to share that Oregon scored high nationally in how we support SRTS through policy, funding, and practice! 🎉 The Safe Routes to School Partnership recently released the Making Strides: 2026 State Report Cards showing how each state is supporting walking, biking, and Safe Routes to School. ​These report cards provide a snapshot of where states are making progress, where gaps remain, and where there are opportunities to further support walking, biking, rolling, and Safe Routes to School. They are intended to support learning and encourage community conversations about how to best support walking, biking, and rolling.
