Now that Hunger Action Month has wrapped up, we want to take one more opportunity to thank everyone who took action with us. We saw this community come together in so many inspiring ways and it reminded us how meaningful our mission is to folks across Central Oregon. Thank you to the individuals who donated time and money, businesses that hosted benefit nights and food drives, and each of you who shared our initiatives and contributed in any way you were able. We truly could not do what we do without you. We’re proud to serve our community with you.

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize our diners who join us in each of our kitchens. It’s a joy and honor to share our space and a warm meal with you. We hope our services can lighten your load and make your day a little brighter. We appreciate the trust you put in us and don’t take that responsibility lightly. Thank you for being part of our community ❤️

Hunger Action Month is almost over and what a whirlwind it has been!

We are so appreciative of everyone who has taken action in the fight against hunger this month! Whether it be volunteering, donating, attending an event, or bidding on an auction item, we couldn’t do this without you!

While hunger may seem like a distant problem to some, the reality is closer to home — here in Central Oregon, thousands of individuals and families struggle each day to put food on the table.

Please help us welcome Jake to Family Kitchen! He is joining us as a meal coordinator in the Bend kitchen.

Jake has lived all over the world, but has found his way to Bend and is currently enrolled in the Business Administration program at OSU Cascades. In his free time, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, fishing, snowboarding, and kite surfing! His favorite part of his time with Family Kitchen so far is meeting our rotating cast of diners and volunteers and sharing conversations with them throughout the day.

Thanks for being here, Jake! We’re grateful to have you on the team! ❤️

While we have been focusing on community-led events and initiatives this Hunger Action Month, one thing has remained the same behind the scenes: our kitchens continue to hum with the activity of our volunteers and diners as they share meals together each day. It’s hard to put into words what this time together means to us - you’ll just have to stop in and experience it for yourself!

Family Kitchen is partnering with Pampered Chef in a new fundraiser this month!

Pampered Chef is excited to raise funds to aid in alleviating food insecurity in our community.

20-30% of proceeds from each order placed during the fundraiser will be donated to Family Kitchen.

Please help us welcome Daniel, a new Meal Coordinator at our Bend kitchen!

A former volunteer, Daniel is excited to be joining the team in this new capacity. He loves chatting with diners and volunteers (make sure you say hi the next time you’re at the kitchen!) and appreciates the community building that is possible when we share a meal together.

When he’s not at the kitchen, Daniel enjoys singing + playing guitar, playing board games, making linoleum art, and more. He’s also a helicopter flight student at COCC!

We’re so grateful to have Daniel on the team!

Introducing Family Kitchen, one of the 4 local charities receiving the proceeds of this year's Duck Race.

Family Kitchen serves three dinners and five lunches each week in Bend and one dinner weekly in Sisters. In January 2024, they began providing meals six days a week in Redmond through partner agencies. They provide meals to the Bend Shelter, Sisters Cold Weather Shelter, Central Oregon Veteran’s Outreach efforts, Stepping Stone Shelter, Redmond Collective Action outreach, and other programs who deliver to those who can’t make the trip to town.
