Pet Peace of Mind

Pet Peace of Mind Helping hospice patients with pet care and rehoming to prevent anxiety related to their pet's future. We are driven to preserve that bond.

Pet Peace of Mind is a national program that helps care for the pets of hospice and home healthcare patients, including helping orphaned pets find a loving new home when necessary. Pet Peace of Mind provides our program partners with a turnkey solution to train local volunteers to help patients with their pet care needs and assist with foster and adoption. Pets play an important role when their hu

man is facing a serious illness. By respecting the relationship between people and their pets at the deepest level, we actively advocate for the pet’s role as an important member of the caregiving team. In Pet Peace of Mind’s world, a pet is never “just a pet.”

Who will you honor at this year's Lights of Remembrance Walk?

Last year, Smokey's humans honored him with this tribute: "Whenever people met Smokey they couldn't help but love her. She would bury her head into you, both wanting and giving love."

Some gifts leave us feeling especially grateful.

This month, one of our longest-standing monthly donors surprised us with an extraordinarily generous additional gift to Pet Peace of Mind.

Along with their donation, they sent this beautiful handwritten note explaining that some unexpected money had come their way and they wanted to make sure to “share that blessing” with us.

We are incredibly touched by both the gift and the thought behind it.

For many years, this donor’s faithful monthly support has helped Pet Peace of Mind continue our mission of keeping hospice patients and their beloved pets together through the end of life and finding loving homes for pets who need them.

To this very special supporter, thank you for your longstanding partnership, your remarkable generosity, and for choosing to share your blessing with Pet Peace of Mind. We are so grateful to have you as part of our PPOM family. 💙🐾

Some memories become even more precious with time.

For this year’s Lights of Remembrance Walk, our longtime monthly donor, Kris, chose to honor Maggie and a special memory of Maggie with Kris’s brother, Tom.

Kris shared:

“I chose to honor Maggie because my brother, Tom passed away this year. They were hiking together in the desert of southern Arizona, and this will always be a favorite memory of mine.”

On September 13, Maggie’s luminaria will shine in remembrance of a beloved dog, a beloved brother, and a memory Kris will always hold dear. ❤️

Is there a pet whose memory you’d like to honor?

For a $25 donation, you can dedicate a luminaria to a beloved pet during our 3rd Annual Lights of Remembrance Walk. Your personal tribute will be read during our Facebook Live event, and afterward, you’ll receive an emailed photo of your pet’s luminaria as a keepsake.

Date of virtual pet memorial event: Sunday, September 13 at 8 p.m. PT

Purchase your luminaria here: https://www.petpeaceofmind.org/annual-lights-of-remembrance-walk

A big thank you to our longtime friends at WellHaven Pet Health! 🐾

WellHaven recently wrapped up a walking challenge for its support team, encouraging employees to get moving while also giving back. As part of the challenge, WellHaven pledged a generous donation to Pet Peace of Mind, and we are so grateful for their support!

WellHaven has been a valued supporter of Pet Peace of Mind for many years, and their continued generosity helps us reach more hospices across the country and ensure that patients and their beloved pets can stay together through the end of life.

Thank you to everyone at WellHaven who participated in the challenge, and thank you for continuing to believe in our mission. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Pet Peace of Mind family! 💙

Today we're celebrating two things close to our hearts: Black Cat Appreciation Day and National Nonprofit Day! 🖤🐈‍⬛

On National Nonprofit Day, we're especially grateful for the hospice partners, volunteers, donors, and friends who make our work possible. Together, you're helping hospice patients remain with the pets they love and helping orphaned pets find loving new homes when needed.

And because it's also Black Cat Appreciation Day, we'd love to see the black cats in your life! Share a photo in the comments so we can celebrate them with you.

For many people facing serious illness, concern for a beloved pet can become one of their most important priorities.

In this conversation, Christy Bork, National Program Manager at Pet Peace of Mind, shares the story of a man whose hospice team called him every morning, not because he was afraid for himself, but because he didn’t want his dog to miss one meal.
