Behind every great community center is a team working hard behind the scenes.

Thank you to Jeremy Clubb, our Director of Facilities, and Energy Trust of Oregon for highlighting how energy-efficiency upgrades are helping the Salem Kroc Center operate more efficiently and better serve our community. The project received Energy Trust incentives and is expected to generate annual energy savings, helping us invest more resources into the programs and services our community relies on.

We're grateful for partners like Energy Trust of Oregon and for the dedication of our Facilities Team, whose work helps keep the Kroc running strong for the thousands of individuals and families we serve each year.

What an incredible day it was at Family Fair!

From LEGO activities and pony rides to a Monster Truck, karaoke, Yard games, and more, there was so much happening throughout the Kroc Center. But the best part was seeing our community come together to swim, rock climb, play, learn, connect with resources, and simply enjoy the day together.

A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, and community partners who helped make Family Fair possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Community Partners:
Glow Oregon Christmas Festival at Roto-Rooter Park - Home of the Volcanoes
Pretty Good Printing

Volunteer Groups:
Salem Walmart
Cascade School District Honor Society
North Salem High School Army JROTC

And most importantly, thank you to everyone in our community who joined us. You brought the energy that made Family Fair such a special day, and we’re incredibly grateful that you chose to spend it with us at the Kroc Center!

Family Fair was about more than one incredible day. The event helps raise awareness and support for Kroc Scholarships, our financial assistance program that helps ensure cost is not a barrier to accessing the Kroc Center. With the support of our partners, vendors, and community, more local children, teens, and families can access swim lessons, sports, camps, educational enrichment, and other Kroc programs.

Together, we’re creating opportunities for our community to build confidence, embrace healthy lifestyles, and strengthen connections.

From the Kroc pool to Alcatraz Island.

Kroc Group Exercise Instructor Julie and Masters Swimmers Jim and Jodi recently traveled to San Francisco to celebrate Jodi’s birthday by taking on the 2nd Annual Pedro Ordenes Memorial Alcatraz Swim!

The 1.25-mile course challenged swimmers to brave the waters of San Francisco Bay, navigating strong currents and unpredictable conditions in the shadow of Alcatraz Island.

And our Kroc swimmers made a splash! Out of 120 participants:

Jim finished 18th overall and 1st in the 75–79 age group
Jodi finished 50th overall and 1st in the 60–64 age group
Julie finished 54th overall and 3rd in the 60–64 age group

We’re incredibly proud of Julie, Jim, and Jodi for taking on such an amazing challenge. Even better, their participation helped support fundraising for Stand Up To Cancer.

Feeling inspired? Our Kroc Master Swimmers are always working toward their next goal in the Competition Pool. Check out the weekly and monthly challenges posted on the whiteboard and see what challenge you can take on next!
