Some voices have been ignored for far too long.

On July 25th, Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality continues Summer of Soul with a special screening of The Last Wintercount. This powerful feature-length documentary brings to light the untold story of the Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux and their lineal descendants.

This is not a story of the past. Its effects are alive today. Learn about their resilience, survival, and the pursuit of justice across generations.

On June 27th, Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality kicked off Summer of Soul at Saint Paul College. Featured award winning author Kaitlin Curtice had the room captivated. Weaving together guided meditation, poetry, and Q&A, she drew everyone into a deeply personal reflection on what it means to belong to a place and to one another. Then Imnizaska Drum Group brought the house down with live drumming that left everyone buzzing!

We are grateful to everyone who attended and came together in with us.

The journey continues July 25th with a screening of The Last Wintercount by Sheldon Wolfchild, a powerful look at Indigenous winter counts and how history gets carried forward. After, participate in a group discussion with Sheldon Wolfchild, who also directed The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code, and producer Bill Konrardy.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet founded this organization on a simple but transformative belief: that love of neighbor knows no distinction, and that our response to those experiencing vulnerability must always be rooted in compassion, dignity, hope, and action.

Moments like this call us not to retreat, but to recommit.

For us, that means continuing to stand alongside the women at Sarah's an Oasis for Women , the adult learners at Learning In Style School , and all those who seek safety, belonging, and the opportunity to build a better future. It means asking ourselves, as our founders so often did, "What do the needs of our time require of us?"

The answer is not to do less. It is to deepen our commitment—to strengthen our programs, expand our partnerships, and continue creating communities where every person is treated with dignity and respect.

The circumstances around us may change. Our mission does not.

With hope,
Matt Halley
President, Accola

Yesterday morning, over 360 neighbors gathered in person and virtually, to celebrate what's possible when a community comes together with purpose.

Thank you for being part of it. Every seat filled, every screen lit up, every act of generosity is a step toward a more just and welcoming community for all.

The morning may be over, but the impact doesn't stop here. Give, volunteer, or join the Impact Circle, and keep the momentum going at accolamn.org

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible sponsors. Your generosity makes this morning, and so much more, possible. 🙏
