🍂 Can you find your equilibrium?

Fall is arriving, the days are shifting, and maybe it’s a good time to ask: What could use a little more balance in your life?

At our next Wordsmiths Toastmasters meeting, we’re celebrating the Autumn Equinox with an evening of speaking, laughter, connection, and probably a few moments that tip the scales. ⚖️😄

Our theme: Autumn Equinox: Finding Balance
Our Word of the Day: Equilibrium — and yes, bonus points if you can work it naturally into a conversation!

What a night at Wordsmiths Toastmasters! 🎤🙌

Our theme was “New Routines, New Results,” but this photo captures something even better: real people, real smiles, and a community growing together.

We spoke. We listened. We laughed. We learned. And somewhere along the way, Monday night became something to look forward to. 😊

That’s what Toastmasters is really about. You don’t have to be a great speaker before you walk through the door. You just have to walk through the door.

Curious about Toastmasters? Come see what happens when a room full of people decides to help each other get a little better.

Guests are always welcome at Wordsmiths. 💙

New routines. New connections. New possibilities.

🎡🌽🎤 State Fair energy + Toastmasters + a picnic = what could possibly go wrong?

Apparently… nothing. 😄

Our Wordsmiths Toastmasters State Fair Edition on August 31 was packed with good food, great people, big laughs, and some seriously fun Table Topics.

The questions came fast, the answers went in every direction imaginable, and our speakers handled it like pros. Some responses were thoughtful. Some were hilarious. Some probably surprised the speaker just as much as the audience. 😂

That’s the magic of Table Topics:
you get a question, a few seconds to think, and then… good luck! 🎤

We heard creative answers, unexpected stories, quick thinking, and plenty of personality. Add in the picnic atmosphere and State Fair spirit, and this meeting had a little bit of everything.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up, jumped in, asked questions, answered questions, laughed along, and made the evening memorable.

No blue ribbons were awarded.
No butter sculptures were harmed.
But plenty of communication skills got a workout. 🏆😄

That’s a pretty great night at Wordsmiths.

What do river stories, personality colors, and ambitious goals have in common?

They all came together at Wordsmiths Toastmasters during our July 13 meeting, themed “Summer Stories on the Mississippi.”

Tom Polachek guided us through Mississippi River history, while Table Topics kept everyone on the water. Guest Sathith Vindika earned Best Table Topic with stories about visiting different bodies of water—and his mother’s dependable question: “Will there be swimming?”

Julie Andrianakos introduced us to personality assessments in What Makes People Tick? By the end of her speech, the rest of the meeting seemed to be conducted in four colors.

Erica Anderson stepped into the General Evaluator role for the first time, and Kimberly Rogers Garcia delivered her first speech as Wordsmiths president. In Building on Top of Better, Kimberly celebrated the club’s welcoming reputation and challenged every member to set meaningful goals—and actually chase them.

🏆 Best Evaluator: Leo Smith
🏆 Best Table Topic: Sathith Vindika
👏 Welcome to our newest member, John Libby!

Our next meeting is Monday, July 20, 2026, at Highland Park Library.

Curious about Toastmasters? Visit as a guest and experience a supportive place to practice speaking, build confidence, and grow as a leader. Message us for meeting details.
