The hell bitch had to come home for a bit……Irish LOVES being boarded at the barn. But she goes through episodes of wall kicking. Because she’s an overly opinionated bitch. And when she’s in heat. The walls have been fixed so there are ZERO holes or gaps to see the horses in the next stall. Still not good enough. She KNOWS there’s other horses breathing in the vicinity. Everyone there has fixed a wall she’s kicked down at least once. And while they’re all understanding…..I hate having a horse destroying someone else’s barn and hurting herself. So. She’s home. She’s in a stall because while kicking the walls down she sustained a small cut on her leg. When that’s healed her ass is going outside. For the meantime she’s in the barn. With the emus. Who she’s never met until today…….she is NOT a fan. And there’s a three legged billy goat randomly wandering wherever he pleases. WHAT KIND OF CIRCUS FREAK SHOW FROM HELL HAS SHE ENTERED. She is very sorry and wants to go back to her favorite barn. 😂

🤍🩷🫶 Happy two years Jolene!!

On October 5th 2024 we went to see some friends and help doctor some horses at a horse traders pen. Jolene had been brought in from a herd dispersal sale and had a large hernia. Their plan was to repair it themselves. After seeing the size of it we persuaded them to seek alternate methods. She was such a quiet and sweet filly, staying to herself with her mama. She was just three months old. After talking through the dangers of at home hernia repair methods and the cost of surgery, they agreed to give her to us. She had not been handled much and had been on a long trailer ride to the pens just days before. Our only option was to load her up that day and bring her home. Early weaning and another long trailer ride. She quietly ran through the chutes into the trailer and hauled home with zero fuss. She spent the next two years going through a major hernia surgery, stall rest, adopting her little brother Carl Dean WHILE on stall rest, raising him for a year, and just being the nicest and most model equine citizen 🩷 She handles everything with quiet grace and a solid mind. She will start her journey being broke to ride and see what she wants to do with her life.

Miss Mora has been battling the bulge for a while……so she has now been pulled from the pony herd and is in “Phat Camp”. The kind folks at Formula 707 have partnered with us to use their products in our program. We’re very excited!! Well, most of us. Mora definitely is NOT excited. She’s actually quite perturbed about the plan if we’re being honest. But. Girl has GOT to lose some LB’s. So she’s receiving Metastable Pellets once daily and her hay is being weighed. Metastable pellets are formulated with Leucine, an essential amino acid that promotes protein synthesis as well as helps regulate glucose metabolism and improve insulin sensitivity. It also supports muscle repair and recovery. Which will be beneficial as she will now be going on jogs! We haven’t told her that part yet……🫣 In addition to Leucine, it has Pyridoxine (Vit B6) which supports metabolism of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Helping in hemoglobin production, which in turn helps support oxygen transport within the body. And last but not least! Veri-te Resveratrol, a sourced form from a proprietary fermented yeast process in Europe. This aids is supporting insulin sensitivity and supports stable blood sugar. We will post pictures regularly to track her hopefully slimming waistline!

Many of you may recognize this amazing woman, Molly Nims. She’s been in the horse world for many many years. She recently gained her wings and is no doubt now visiting the many friends and animals in heaven that she has helped throughout her life. I personally knew Molly when she fed at the boarding barn I kept horses at. She showed up rain or shine without fail to feed every morning. Most often with a few dogs running at her heels, always happy to be with their loving master and “helping” her. She ALWAYS took the time to talk to every horse, doing a quick check over for anything amiss. And always said hello and had conversation for anyone there at the same early hour. This beautiful woman left this earth earlier than she planned and unfortunately left behind two elderly horses. It was in her plans to lay them to rest before winter hit. While the friends and family entertained the idea of rehoming them, the sad truth is that it would be very hard on them. At their advanced age and with some health concerns, the stress of a move would be too much. Annabelle is a 30 year old palomino mare who is blind. And Gunner is 23 and has Cushing’s syndrome. We are coming to our community with a request for any help to send these horses to their final resting place with dignity. We will be fundraising for cover veterinary expenses for euthanasia. 🙏❤️‍🩹 If you can find it in your hearts to donate we know Molly would be forever grateful. As will her family and friends, and Gunner and Annabelle.

So much loss in one day 💔

We lost one of our oldies today 💔 Jimmy came to us on October 23rd 2022. A geriatric gentleman who was a rack of bones with very little in the teeth department. We got him up to a decent weight and adopted him out for a few years. When it was clear he was nearing the end of life they returned him. We have an open door policy that we will at any time take an animal back if need be. We started him back on the senior and pelleted feed diet he was supposed to be on due to his inability to correctly chew and process hays. He had been allowed to eat hay while he was out of our care so he went on a bit of a hunger strike. Thankfully we won out and found a combination he would eat. Although he would NEVER eat his chow soaked. So we still worried about the risk of choke. He enjoyed his days of leisure, turned out with two senior mares. Coming in at night to eat his old man chow. While we knew his time was coming, he was doing fairly well. We decided to give him one more year. Then one night chore time was late and Jimmy was out in the dark. He became frantic and panicked. It was clear he could no longer see in the dark. That in combined with his recent decrease in feed intake made us take a second look at his quality of life. While he was still looking great we knew he would not enjoy living his winter days in his stall due to the winter light hours. He also had some hind limb weakness. He would still run and get frisky, but his hind end listed to the sides when he came down the pasture hill. We worried the list of what ifs was becoming too long.
What if he went down in the pasture in the rain while we were at work.
What if he choked
What if his eyesight gets worse
What if he gets depressed being inside more
What if he goes off feed for longer than a few days like he sometimes does
In the end what we strive to do is always give them a peaceful end on a good day. When the sun is shining, he’s still feeling ok, and he’s surrounded by peace and family and old man treats. And while it’s never an easy decision for us, we always strive to do what’s right for them. So today we laid his ornery ass to rest. In the sunshine where he can keep an eye on all his ladies. 💙
