Congratulations to Assembly Delegate Sankalp Sharma on being named one of eight recipients of PRSA’s inaugural Emerging Professionals Award!

A dedicated PRSA member since his college years, San began his leadership journey with Sacramento State's PRSSA chapter, serving on its communications committee before quickly becoming chapter president. He later took on several national leadership roles within PRSSA, culminating in his service as National President. In 2024, he became the first Sacramento State student to receive PRSSA's Gold Key Award since Erica Johnson earned the honor in 2014. After graduation, he continued his commitment to the profession by joining our local chapter’s Board of Directors while also serving as Senior Counsel for PRSA National.

“I’m honored to be a recipient of the PRSA Emerging Professional Award!” said San. “A special thank you to those who nominated me for this honor and those who deemed me fit! PRSA has been the backbone of my career, whether it be through local support at PRSA CCC, who’ve been supporting me for over 6 years, or at the national level. This award means so much to me and I’m honored to represent Sacramento at this stage.”

Outside of PRSA, San is a Media Relations Coordinator at Visit California. We are proud to celebrate his contributions to the public relations profession and his continued leadership within PRSA!

Launched this year, the PRSA Emerging Professionals Awards recipients will be honored during a special ceremony at ICON.

July's Chapter Champion features Casey Camacho!

Casey is a Public Information Officer for Sacramento County, supporting the Department of Health Services and the Office of Economic Development.

He has been a valued member of PRSA for several years and was incredibly involved as a former New Pros Committee Chair. He helped bridge the gap between our Sacramento State students and our young professionals during one of the toughest times: COVID-19.

“I’ve been involved with PRSA-CCC since my Sac State days, back when networking meant figuring out how to introduce myself without sounding terrified.

The chapter gave me a network that led to real opportunities, lifelong mentorship and friendships, some of which have turned into professional partnerships.

The chapter gives Sacramento communicators a place to learn from each other, push the profession forward and build a community that actually shows up for one another. I'm proud to be a part of it.”
