Our members serve as primary care providers for children from infancy through adolescence.

As a State Component of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, CSPD is the membership organization representing the specialty of pediatric dentistry in Calif. CSPD became a state component of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 1983 and is currently the largest state component of AAPD, comprising almost 10% of AAPD membership. CSPD maintains an active role in the AAPD with members serving over the years as AAPD presidents, committee chairpersons and members of the Board of Trustees. Our component is one of the most active and progressive in the nation.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Francisco Ramos-Gomez on receiving the 2026 AAP Oral Health Service Award!

This award recognizes Dr. Ramos-Gomez for his contributions to advocacy, clinical practice, and research that improve children's health and well-being. The award also honors individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to improving children's oral health through their work with AAP. Dr. Ramos-Gomez has dedicated more than 4 decades to preventing early childhood caries, reducing oral health disparities, and improving access to care, particularly for underserved communities.

Medi-Cal Dental funding has been protected for another year in the new state budget!!! The proposed cuts are now delayed until July 1, 2027. This preserves the current Medi-Cal dental reimbursement rate levels as well as dental benefits for undocumented residents. But the hard work isn't over, we will continue to fight to prevent Medi-Cal dental cuts!
