Umpqua Valley Farm to School is a school garden and farm to school education organization. Umpqua Valley Farm to School believes in equity and justice for all.

We believe food security begins with a strong community connection to the land and its food. By supporting local food systems and providing education to Douglas County youth, UVF2S cultivates skills and passion to build food-community connections. UVF2S aims to achieve an equitable and sustainable food system that nurtures and strengthens Douglas County’s people and economy. We support marginalized audiences and recognize the disparities in BIPOC, and will do all we can to educate ourselves and others in order to provide a more just world to live in. We support the LGBTQ community and welcome peaceful discussions in order to educate ourselves and others. We are an equal opportunity nonprofit organization. School gardens work when schools support them! Green Dragons use their garden for recess, social emotional learning, and fun, and you can find their principal in the center of the fun each day. Mrs Rasmussen gets a gold star for being the Garden Champion for Green Elementary School.

Congrats to the women of Valley Flora Farm with this honor. Valley Flora is a huge supporter and contributor to the farm to school program and schools among the south and mid coast, and contributes to food justice in the area, ensuring that folks are fed nutritious, locally grown food! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

2026 is International Year of the Woman Farmer and in celebration of that, ODA is thrilled to shine a spotlight on Oregon women whose hard work powers our communities and beyond.

Meet the Bradyburys of Valley Flora Farm, a mother-&-two-daughter trio that turned family property on the banks of Floras Creek near Langlois, on the South Coast, into an organic Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).

We had so much fun hosting students at Mellor Family this week for fall field trips! Students got to ask their burning farming questions of the farmers, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, and learn about making fresh pressed apple c***r. They also tasted delicious cookies made on the farm! We are so grateful for the folks at Bare Hill Farm for their generosity and willingness to pass on their knowledge of farming to younger generations.

Tomorrow starts our fall field trips with Bare Hill Farm! We love showing kids how food is grown and giving them a hands-on experience at local farms. They’ll get to press apples to make and try fresh c***r, take a hay ride to choose a pumpkin. They also get to tour the farm, watch the pumpkin cannon, and feed the cattle!

We’re so excited!

We took a little family field trip to the University of Oregon’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History today to learn more and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day. The first thing we noticed were the native plants and signage, alongside the large sign by artnerdforever

Once inside, there is so much history including timelines, artifacts, fossils, and more. Take time to slow down and explore the rich history of our surroundings!
