Independence can look different at every stage of life, and RCDS is here to support you along the way.

From transitioning to more independent living and navigating education plans to maintaining confidence and independence later in life, our team connects individuals with disabilities to guidance, resources, and programs designed around their goals.

At the heart of it all is one mission: helping people with disabilities live more independent, confident lives. ✨

1 in 4 adults in the U.S. has a disability. You don’t have to navigate services and support alone!

At RCDS, we believe support should go beyond a single conversation. Our team works alongside individuals with disabilities to help identify services, understand available options, and build a plan that supports everyday needs and long-term independence.

The goal is simple: make sure you have the information, resources, and support you need to navigate life with greater confidence.

If you’re not sure where to start, reach out to RCDS. We’re here to help. 🤝

Did you know Florida offers a program that can help eligible individuals with disabilities stay employed by assisting with the cost of personal care services?

The James Patrick Memorial Work Incentive Personal Attendant Services (JP-PAS) Program is designed for working adults with chronic disabilities who need a personal care attendant to help them maintain employment. Eligible participants can receive monthly reimbursement for qualifying personal care attendant expenses.

You may qualify if you:
✔️ Are at least 18 years old
✔️ Live in Florida
✔️ Are employed and meet income guidelines
✔️ Need assistance with at least two activities of daily living
✔️ Meet the program's additional eligibility requirements

If you're unsure whether JP-PAS is right for you, RCDS is here to help you understand the program and navigate the application process.

Contact us today to learn more or see if you may be eligible.

You are the captain of your own ship! At RCDS, we use the term CONSUMER because it reflects the Independent Living philosophy. Our consumers are not patients receiving medical treatment—they are individuals making their own choices, setting their own goals, and directing the services and supports they want.

Independent living is about self-determination, choice, and empowerment. Our role is to provide information, resources, and advocacy so consumers can make informed decisions that work best for their lives.

In this reel, Ken explains why that distinction is so important and how it shapes everything we do at RCDS.

Not all disabilities are visible! It's easy to assume someone doesn't have a disability because they "look fine," but many disabilities can't be seen. Conditions like hearing loss, chronic illness, autism, epilepsy, mental health conditions, and many others may not be obvious to those around them.

A little understanding goes a long way. Avoid making assumptions based on appearance, and remember that everyone's experience is different!

Accessibility isn’t one-size-fits-all. ♿

What helps one person participate fully may look completely different for someone else, and that’s exactly why listening, flexibility, and understanding matter.

Creating accessible spaces starts with recognizing that everyone’s needs are different!

Peer support matters because sometimes the most meaningful encouragement comes from someone who truly understands.

RCDS Peer Support Groups create a welcoming, judgment-free space where individuals with disabilities can connect with others who have faced similar challenges, share experiences, learn new coping strategies, and celebrate progress together.

These conversations can help build confidence, reduce feelings of isolation, and remind participants that they are not alone. Whether someone is looking for advice, encouragement, friendship, or simply a place to feel understood, peer support can be a powerful part of personal growth and independence.
