Today is 9/5 and we would like to honor Dolly Parton and her incredible legacy of bringing books to millions of children.

We’re raising a cup of ambition to Dolly...who worked 9-5 to help put books into the hands of children and inspired generations to dream, wonder, and imagine what’s possible.

If there’s one thing Dolly has taught us, it’s that a little hard work, a whole lot of imagination, and a dream can take you a long way. We will always love you Dolly.

So what exactly is the Imagination Library?

Through the Early Learning Coalition's partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, more than 5,000 Brevard County children ages birth–5 receive a FREE, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every single month — addressed especially to them! 📬📖

The program helps children build their own little libraries at home while encouraging a love of books and learning before they ever enter kindergarten. ❤️

From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, you can grab their limited-edition Coat of Many Colors Cinnamon Roll — and for EVERY cinnamon roll sold, $1 will be donated to ELC Brevard to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! 🌈

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. 70,000+ books were delivered this year in Brevard County to the mailboxes of local children — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you.

The Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County is a proud Local Program Partner of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. With support from local funders and partners, this program is available to all children, at no cost to the family, regardless of income.

A message from Board Chairman of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County, Alan Bergman:
"Through our work in Early Learning, we see firsthand what happens when a child receives a book so did Dolly. A book can become a doorway to imagination. It can introduce a child to words, numbers, animals, people and places they have never encountered. It can bring a parent and child together and create a moment that becomes a lifelong memory.

Dolly understood something profound: you don’t have to be wealthy to give a child a dream. Sometimes you can begin with a book.

Her gift was not simply the millions of books she helped place into children’s hands. Her greater gift was the belief behind those books—that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, imagine and dream, regardless of where that child was born or how much money the family has. That is why her legacy will continue long after the music stops playing.

We will miss you. Your work will live in the heart of all young and old forever..."
