๐ŸŽค Three chances to hear the next generation of Quad Cities poets!

This summer, Metro Arts poetry apprentices have been working alongside lead artist Aubrey Barnes to write, edit, memorize, and perform original poetry. Now they're ready to share their work with the community.

Metro Arts is Quad City Arts' paid summer apprenticeship program that connects local high school students with professional artists for hands-on creative learning, career exploration, and real-world arts experiences.

Join us for a series of FREE open mic performances at The Coffee House in the Village of East Davenport and experience the creativity, talent, and unique perspectives of these emerging writers:

๐Ÿ“ June 18 | 11:30 a.m.โ€“12:30 p.m.
๐Ÿ“ June 25 | 11:30 a.m.โ€“12:30 p.m.
๐Ÿ“ July 2 | 11:30 a.m.โ€“12:30 p.m.

Grab a coffee, bring a friend, and support these talented young artists as they take the stage and share their voices. We hope to see you there!

A major new public art project is coming to Downtown Davenport! Friends of MLK has selected nationally recognized muralist Cbabi Bayoc to create a new mural adjacent to the Martin Luther King Jr. Interpretive Center (501 N. Brady St.) and MLK Park in Downtown Davenport, Iowa. Installation begins this week on the north-facing train bridge wall across from the Interpretive Center and is expected to be completed by June 17, weather permitting.

Quad City Arts is proud to help facilitate the project by coordinating with Friends of MLK and the selected artist throughout the design and implementation process. In partnership with Friends of MLK and the Downtown Davenport Partnership, this mural will make local stories more visible through public art, highlighting the resilience, entrepreneurship, and culture that helped shape our community.

Bayoc's mural represents the first phase of a multi-phase public art project at MLK Park, which will also include a mural by local artist Zay Williams.

If you're in the area, stop by and watch the mural take shape over the coming days. We look forward to celebrating this meaningful addition to our community and sharing details about the public dedication soon!

These are the first marks of what will become a large-scale public art piece. To view more of Cbabi Bayoc's work, visit: cbabibayoc.com/works

52 Sculptures. Multiple communities. One giant game of artistic musical chairs!

We're in the middle of our annual Rotating Sculpture Program transition, moving artwork across the Quad Cities and installing a new collection of sculptures for the community to enjoy.

If you spot crews at work or notice a new sculpture appearing in your favorite park, downtown, or riverfront space, you're getting a first look at this year's collection.

Stay tuned for artist features, map updates, and more as the newest sculptures take their places throughout the region!

Public art does more than beautify a spaceโ€”it tells our stories, honors those who have made a lasting impact, and strengthens community pride.

"Come Ride With Us," celebrates the lasting impact of Dean and Deb Mathias while serving as a reminder of how public art connects people to place and preserves the stories that shape our region.
