โ›ณ Every Birdie Counts. Every Young Adult Matters.

What if helping a young adult find their path to success was as easy as making a donation while joining in the fun of our community's beloved .

Through the John Deere Classic's Birdies for Charity program, every dollar you give to Narratives QC receives a guaranteed bonus match of at least 5%, meaning your gift goes even further. Last year's match was an incredible 9%!

Your donation helps provide free life coaching, mental health programming, community connection, and opportunities for young adults ages 17โ€“29 to build the skills, confidence, and support system they need to thrive.

And there's a bonus for you too! Everyone who donates through Birdies for Charity can guess the number of birdies made during the tournament for a chance to win a two-year lease on a 2026 Lexus, courtesy of Smart Lexus of Quad Cities.

Sure, winning a Lexus would be exciting. But helping a young adult rewrite their story and build a brighter future? That's the real win.

To donate, click the link and be sure to select Narratives QC, Birdie #2386. https://birdiesforcharity.com/donate?charity=2386 #/charities

Thank you for helping ensure that no young adult has to navigate their next chapter alone.

What do you see?

I see the perfect start to a beautiful Saturday morning.

A chocolate-covered donut from . Drinks from . Phones out (which, around here, usually means people are writing, not scrolling). And the talented Chris Britton is challenging us in the best possible way to explore our thoughts, feelings, and experiences through poetry.

This morning was our Spoken Word Poetry Bootcamp, and the creative juices were flowing.

Words filled pages. Ideas were shared. Stories began to take shape.

At Narratives QC, we know that healing doesn't only happen in counseling offices or classrooms. Sometimes healing happens around a table with coffee, donuts, and a blank page waiting to be filled.

There is something powerful about putting thoughts into words. About finding language for experiences that have been difficult to explain. About discovering that you're not alone when others share pieces of their stories, too.

Today was about more than poetry.

It was about finding our voices, connecting with others, and writing the next chapter of our stories.

And that is a beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning.

Curious what JOY looks like?

It's gathering to paint on a Friday night, even when you have no painting skills.

It's a room filled with laughter as we "critique" each other's "masterpieces."

It's calling your friends and convincing them to come join us, then celebrating when they do.

It's making plans for our next adventures together, whether that's our Spoken Word Poetry Bootcamp, Reclaiming the Bridge Walk, or our upcoming Jackbox Night.

It's our young adults sharing ideas, getting excited, and taking the lead in shaping future activities and experiences.

It's making plans to connect with our life coaches to work toward goals like getting a driver's license, finding a job, returning to school, or taking the next step toward the future they want.

Yes, we painted last night.

But as always at Narratives QC, so much more happened when we gathered.

Because while the activity may bring us together, it's the relationships, belonging, encouragement, and community that make the real difference.

Research continues to show that joy, play, and meaningful connection are essential to mental health. That's why we've made JOY our theme for the summer.

And judging by last night, we're off to a pretty great start.

๐ŸŒ… Reclaiming the I-74 Bridge Walk ๐ŸŒ…

When people associate one of the many bridges in the Quad Cities with mental health, it is rarely a positive association.

We're working to change that.

The truth is that the river, nature, movement, and meaningful connection can be powerful tools for supporting our mental health. They give us space to breathe, reflect, reconnect with ourselves, and engage with the world around us in healthy ways.

We saw that firsthand last summer during our weekly hikes through local parks. This summer, we're taking that idea in a new direction.

We're reclaiming the I-74 Bridge.

Young adults ages 17-29, join us on Wednesday, June 17 at 7:00 PM as we walk together across the bridge, take in the beauty of the Mississippi River, and experience the sunset from a new perspective. Together, we can create new stories and new associations for spaces in our community.

Let's be the agents of change we want to see.

And because every good adventure deserves a sweet ending, we'll celebrate afterward with dessert together.

๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽค Missing our weekly poetry sessions?

While our regular Spoken Word Poetry group is on summer break, we have something special planned that you won't want to miss!

Join us this Saturday for our Spoken Word Poetry Bootcamp, led by the talented (and our favorite!) Chris Britton. This will be the only poetry session we offer in June, making it the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your creativity, sharpen your writing skills, and spend time with fellow poets and storytellers.

Never written a poem before? No problem. Been writing for years? We'd love to have you. Whether you're a seasoned writer or simply curious about putting your thoughts on paper, this bootcamp is for you.

We'll spend the morning exploring poetry, finding our voices, and learning from one another in a welcoming and supportive environment.

And let's be honest, the donuts don't hurt either. ๐Ÿฉ

Chris can't wait to see you there!

โœจ Meet Meagan Gottcent! โœจ

We are excited to welcome Meagan Gottcent to the Narratives QC team as our new Director of Young Adult Engagement and Spiritual Life.

In this new role, Meagan will help create meaningful opportunities for young adults to connect, build relationships, and engage more deeply with the programs and services offered through Narratives QC. She will play a key role in strengthening our community, expanding opportunities for engagement, and helping young adults discover pathways toward personal growth, belonging, and well-being.

With years of experience working alongside young adults in higher education and ministry settings, Meagan brings both a passion for this stage of life and a deep commitment to supporting young adults as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of adulthood.

Here's a little about Meagan:

"I'm Meagan Gottcent and I'm so excited to be joining the Narratives QC. I've spent my career working with young adults in college ministry, most recently at Augustana College, Knox College, and Blackhawk College. I'm happy for the opportunity to work more broadly with the young adults in the Quad Cities through Narratives QC. I love young adults and this time of discovery and direction in their lives. But it is often a hard time for many as they get their adulting feet firmly under them. It's an honor to walk with young adults through this time. I look forward to building relationships with our young adults and strengthening the community at Narratives. So many young adults struggle with loneliness, anxiety, and depression which makes community difficult, but all the more needed. I look forward to building a closer community with classes and events that are easy to join and fruitful for everyone. I love that Narratives QC is committed to supporting young adults' holistic well-being, and I am excited to bring the spiritual component to Narratives QC. All people are spiritual beings and faith can strengthen someone's foundation for all parts of their life. I look forward to supporting and guiding young adults' faith lives in ways that improve their mental health and ultimately support them throughout their lives. I'm excited to get started!"

Please join us in giving Meagan a warm Narratives welcome! We are grateful for the experience, compassion, and vision she brings to our team, and we can't wait to see the impact she will have on the lives of young adults throughout the Quad Cities.

Welcome, Meagan! We are so glad you're here.
