Everyone, meet Lucky! And boy, is he lucky to be here!

Earlier this week, our amazing volunteer Heather O. heard a kitten crying in the woods. She followed the cries and found this tiny guy with a badly injured front leg. 💔

Thanks to our wonderful friends at Angels of Assisi, Lucky was seen yesterday and received some much-needed medical care. Unfortunately, his shoulder is severely dislocated and he may eventually need his leg amputated.

But first, we have another battle to fight. Lucky is also very sick with a nasty upper respiratory infection. He's now on antibiotics and eye drops, and our priority is getting him healthy enough to address his leg injury.

Thankfully, Lucky has Heather in his corner! Not only did she find him, but she also stepped up to foster him through his recovery. Without her, we simply wouldn't have been able to help this little guy. ❤️

And according to Heather, he's already got some S***K! 😂 He's a little hissy, taking his medicine like a champ, and apparently can run like the wind when he sees her coming to pick him up. Bad leg and all!

Lucky may have a long road ahead of him, but he's safe, warm, loved, and finally getting the care he needs.

Sometimes it only takes one person stopping to help to change an animal's entire life. Thank you, Heather, and thank you to Angels of Assisi for giving this little guy a fighting chance.

Welcome to Star City Cat Rescue, Lucky!

Hey friends, we have a BIG ask.

We’re looking for someone very special to open their home to our little Clover. ❤
Clover came to us as a semi-feral kitten with a broken leg. As if that weren’t enough, she also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus).
We recently sent out a quantitative PCR to learn more about her infection. Unfortunately, her viral load came back high, indicating a progressive FeLV infection.
So we have a big ask: Clover needs a long-term foster home.

Right now, she needs a quiet, safe place to continue healing from her broken leg. Once healed, we would love for that home to continue fostering her long-term, potentially transitioning to hospice care if and when that time comes.
We don’t know exactly what Clover’s future will look like at this point. Some FeLV+ cats can remain comfortable for quite some time, while others become ill sooner. What we DO know is that she deserves to spend that time safe, warm, and loved. ❤

Clover is learning so quickly that people can be kind. She allows us to pet her and will even purr loudly while being loved on. 🥹 Every day, she trusts a little more.

Her foster home will need to have no other cats OR cats appropriately vaccinated for FeLV. A quiet home with someone willing to be patient while she continues to blossom would be perfect.

Star City Cat Rescue will remain responsible for her veterinary care. We aren’t asking someone to take on her medical expenses. We’re asking for a home, a soft place to land, and someone willing to love her for however long she needs them.
We know this is a big ask. But we also know there are incredibly special people out there for cats like Clover. 🍀

If you think you might be Clover’s person, please message us. If you can’t foster, PLEASE SHARE. Her person may simply be someone we haven’t reached yet.

A few of the faces behind this week’s TNR efforts! 🐾

We’ve been super busy this week helping cats at several different colonies throughout our community, and these are just a few of the sweet faces who have made their way through our traps. ❤️

Each one has been trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, ear tipped, and will be returned to the place they call home. Every surgery means less litters of kittens being born outside and one more community cat receiving the basic veterinary care they deserve.

We are incredibly thankful for Big Lick Veterinary Services and North Roanoke Veterinary Hospital for providing TNR surgeries for us and helping us continue this work. Having veterinary partners willing to work alongside rescues like ours makes such a difference.

And, of course, none of this happens without the colony caretakers who feed these cats, keep an eye on them, and work with us to get them trapped. It truly takes a village. ❤️

Just a few little faces making a BIG difference in preventing the cycle of overpopulation!

Head to The Toebean Cat Café for the purr-fect fall outing! 🐾🍂

Go treat yourself to one of Toebean Cat Café’s fall lattes and spend some time with some VERY cute company while you’re there! ☕

Four of our adoptable love bugs are hanging out in the Biscuit Factory, our current adoption room at The Toebean, where you can meet them, play with them, and maybe even fall in love! ❤️ You can also visit with adoptable kitties from Franklin County Animal Shelter while you're there!

Grab a fall latte, book some kitty time, and go see why we love having our cats at Toebean so much. 🍁☕🐈
🐾 Book your visit here:

Even if you aren’t looking to adopt, spending time socializing with the cats is wonderful for them, and you get coffee + kitty cuddles out of the deal. We’d call that a win!😉

Have you adopted a kitty from Star City Cat Rescue?
We would love for you to drop a photo in the comments and tell us how they’re doing! Bonus points for:
🐱 Their silliest nickname

📸 Your most ridiculous recent photo of them

We spend so much time pouring our hearts into their care while they are with us, so getting to see them happy, spoiled, and completely running their new households is one of our favorite things!!

Another adoption today! Our beautiful little calico princess, Reese, officially goes HOME today! 👑

Reese’s story started when a sweet realtor couple found a tiny kitten all alone in the bushes and brought her to us. From there, she headed off to foster, where her wonderful foster family gave her all the love and care she needed to grow into the beautiful, healthy girl she is today.

And now, she has a family of her very own! 🥹

It truly takes a village. From the people who stopped to help a tiny kitten in the bushes, to the foster family who helped her grow and thrive, and finally to the family who chose her forever.

We are SO excited for Reese and her new family. Happy adoption day, sweet girl!

DUCKY IS ADOPTED!! 🦆

This one makes us SO happy! Sweet Ducky is heading home today with an absolutely amazing family, and we could not be more excited for him. ❤️

This little guy has been through a lot in his short life, including battling and surviving panleukopenia, and now he gets the very best ending: a family of his own. 🥹

Ducky has proven that he is one tough little dude, and we are so incredibly happy to see him healthy, thriving, and heading HOME!

Happy adoption day, Ducky!
