The Grove on Patterson

One year ago this month, we planted this tree. It was a joyful moment when leaders in our community gathered around to take turns shoveling dirt onto it's roots, and today this tree is growing beautifully. But what we like to see is that behind that tree is another, and another, and many beyond. Trees in a grove grow stronger. They shelter each other and grow deeper roots to share nourishment. That is why we are The Grove, because our residents grow and heal together. This tree reminds us of that always, but most especially as we close out our anniversary month. Here's to continued growth at The Grove on Patterson!

Evie’s Bistro and Bakery threw us an Anniversary Party! And as if the outrageously delicious cakes weren’t enough sweetness, our staff, board and community members enjoyed a festive evening of fun and collaging with artist Katherine Devine.

We made cards for Mother's Day–many with encouraging messages that went right into our Letterbox to be shared with our residents. This was also a fundraiser—we're grateful for the Roanokers who came out and gave generously.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to Evie’s owner Amelia Mann for creating such a special event for The Grove! We had our cake and ate it, too!

Last weekend we celebrated an early Mother’s Day with a special brunch for the moms of The Grove, hosted by Christ Episcopal Church, Roanoke, VA.

Christ Episcopal Church hosted, set up, cleaned up, and provided self-care gift bags for our current residents and graduates. Volunteers and board members provided food, drinks, and flowers, and spent the morning serving food and rocking babies so our moms could eat, relax, and enjoy the day with their families.

We also heard from a wonderful speaker who shared her heart-touching lived experience as a mother in recovery.

The celebrations started with a shopping trip made possible by gift cards from Plato's Closet - Roanoke, VA followed by a night of pampering and makeovers from the Anderson Treatment staff.

Motherhood is a profound journey, filled with beauty, sacrifice, growth, and perseverance through every season of life. Today, we’re celebrating the incredible moms of The Grove and all the mothers who support and encourage our community along the way. Happy Mother’s Day ❤

To celebrate the 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE GROVE ON PATTERSON, we need look no further than into the faces of our graduates. Of all the reasons to honor this year, our graduates are by far the most important.

And you can see it. Pride, happiness and confidence—instead of shame, fear and hopelessness—that is what we see when we look at the women who have graduated from The Grove. It is a poignant highlight of why The Grove exists in the first place.

This community came together to create a place of compassion, where pregnant and parenting women living with substance use are given the chance to heal together in order to build a stronger future for themselves and their children.

As part of that community, you helped to make this happen.

So—to you, to our incredible staff and dedicated board, to our visionary partners, and most of all, to our nine graduates and the graduates to come—we say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CONGRATULATIONS, and THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.
