Earlier this week, Dr. Kimberly Simcox (board member for The Grove and all around community superstar) helped cut the ribbon on the new Carilion Emerald Program clinic! The clinic is dedicated to women's mental health and offers exceptional resources for women in recovery.

We are GROWING! With 11 babies and 3 on the way, plus our moms, our transportation needs are growing, too! Because our community never ceases to amaze us, we're asking if anyone has suggestions on how we might get a vehicle donated?

Recovery at The Grove on Patterson extends far beyond treatment alone. Through peer support, parenting education, case management, and daily guidance, residents receive the tools and encouragement needed to navigate recovery, parenthood, and life beyond the program.

The program was made possible by a Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority award to the City of Roanoke in partnership with Roanoke County.

In honor of National Recovery Month, The Grove was proud to join Piedmont Community Services and more than 40 community partners to celebrate a message we believe in deeply: recovery is possible—and no one should have to do it alone.

This year’s theme, Stronger Together: Recovery Is a Family Journey, felt especially close to home for us. At The Grove, we see every day how connection, peer support, family, and community can help make healing possible. We were grateful to have India Robinson and Kate Smith there representing us, sharing resources, celebrating recovery, and helping build a community where people can 'recover out loud' in order to dispel that shame that often surrounds those in treatment.

Every season is 'BACK TO SCHOOL' season at The Grove! As the calendar shows, our residents are learning and working hard day and night to become successful at parenting, recovery, and healing. Sometimes the work is challenging and rigorous, but they help each other stay committed, and their 'teachers' here—in the form of peer support workers and medical/mental health professionals—are always on hand to help guide them. And now, we have a growing number of graduates leading the way!

We see you learning the exhausting work of parenting, too, all at the same time.
We see how you look at your bellies and your babies with pure wonder.

All our residents attended this inspiring event given by the Roanoke Valley Collective Response at the Taubman Museum of Art on August 26th. It was especially moving for our community to hear India Robinson's tribute to her mother, who was the inspiration behind Jody Anderson's founding of Anderson Treatment. Jody was the MC for the event, and we were all so proud that The Grove played a role in this important remembrance of those we've lost. These stories are a motivating force behind the work of healing.
