3,779,556,200 pieces of cigarette butt litter found across America…that is a lot of litter! 😱

The filters found inside of ci******es are made of plastic and aren’t biodegradable. It’s important that we do our part in the City of Riverside and be more conscious of the litter we produce or encounter. If you need to safely dispose of Cigarette butts, you can do so in any of our partnered TerraCycle US receptacles around the city.  🚮

The collected cigarette waste is recycled and converted into amenities such as picnic tables, park benches, and even more receptacles! ♻️

Thank you for doing your part to Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful!🌱

Thanks for joining us to beautify Magnolia Center in Ward 3 this morning! ✨

53 volunteers braved the heat a combined total of 186 hours cleaning sites across Ward 3 removing 2,800 lbs of green waste and trash. Volunteers focused especially on cigarette butt litter and collected 4,400 to be recycled into items like park benches with US! 🚭

Due to the over 100 degree temperatures expected today, we wrapped this event early at 10 a.m.

We'll see you at the Casa Blanca Cleanup in Ward 5 on Saturday, November 7! 📅

Join Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful to learn sewing and mending techniques from Lynda Koskela of REPEAT REUSE! 🌿

🪡 Participants will learn four stitches that can be used to repair clothing and other materials, or add new designs to bring new life to old clothes while meeting their neighbors and discussing sustainability topics.

It's a great way to get involved in the community while learning a new skill! Attendees should bring their own clothes from home that could use basic mending. Please do not bring items that need zipper fixes, hemming, or other more complicated fixes.

We'll be meeting at the Farm House Collective and attendees are encouraged to enjoy food and drinks from the nearby vendors during the workshop.
