This year’s Halloween Parade brought the entire RA|LP community together! The festivities kicked off with our K-8 parade, followed by a special parade by our 4s students. Our Preschool 2s and 3s closed out the celebrations with a parade of their own, with our students and faculty cheering them on!

We wish all of our families a safe and spook-tacular Halloween! 🎃

Last week’s STEAM Saturday at Landmark Preschool Bedford was a wonderful celebration of hands-on learning and discovery! We were thrilled to welcome over 100 members of our Landmark community and local Bedford families for a morning filled with creativity and exploration. From fine-motor magnet building and science projects to creating foil art and practicing coding, there were plenty of opportunities for our youngest learners to experiment, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting morning of STEAM fun! 💙

Fall sports are officially underway in the Upper School, and this season, our athletic facilities got an exciting upgrade!

New scoreboards have been installed on our baseball field, Heus Field, and Summit Gym, giving our fields and courts a fresh new look while helping players and families keep track of the action. We hope to see families at an upcoming home game to check out the new scoreboards and cheer on our fall teams!

🎃🧀 Our Landmark Ridgefield 3s had some seasonal fun in the Kitchen Lab today as they made spooky pumpkin quesadillas! Students got to practice their fine motor skills while gaining confidence in the kitchen as they made their tasty snacks.

Our 42-acre campus offers our Preschool through Grade 8 students access to a variety of facilities, including the Kitchen Lab, where they can engage in a variety of hands-on learning experiences. These opportunities encourage our students to explore, create, and develop new skills while building independence and confidence beyond the classroom.

On Wednesday, the Ridgefield Academy gathered for our inaugural K-8 Learning Exhibition, a student-led opportunity designed for families to experience student learning firsthand, see what their children are working on, hear about their successes and areas of growth, and better understand how they are developing as learners.

Following the presentation detailing the vision and purpose behind this new initiative, families were invited to meet directly with their children across campus to get a firsthand glimpse into their learning journeys.

We look forward to learning and growing together as our students become increasingly confident in reflecting on and explaining their learning throughout the year. Thank you to all the families who joined us in Hope Hall for taking this exciting first step alongside our learners!

Grade 4 put their engineering skills to the test this week with the Egg Drop Challenge! These students spent the past few weeks creating devices designed to protect their eggs from a 30-foot drop off the roof of the Annex Building. With Mrs. Howell as our guest dropper and Mr. Hurlburt’s Grade 7 science class cheering them on, Grade 4 achieved an impressive 90% survival rate! 🥚👏

Students in Grades 6-8 had an unforgettable time during Upper School Trip Week! Each grade spent three days learning, exploring, taking on new adventures, and making memories with their classmates in Frost Valley, Boston, and Washington D.C.

These annual trips give students the opportunity to challenge themselves, immerse themselves in history, discover new places, and connect with one another in new ways. They’re also an important part of the Upper School experience, fostering friendships and a strong sense of community across each grade level. It’s a trip our students look forward to every year, and we loved welcoming them back to RA with plenty of stories to share!

The Kindergarten and Grade 8 Buddy Program has long been a cornerstone of the Ridgefield Academy experience. By intentionally pairing our oldest and youngest students together, our Kindergarteners gain the reassuring comfort of an older friend, while our 8th graders step up as empathetic mentors and role models.

What started as a simple introduction six weeks ago has quickly become a steady presence on campus for both groups. From reading stories and playing on the OCC together to exploring campus on nature walks and cheering each other on during school events, we've loved watching these special relationships grow.

Swipe through to se some of our favorite Buddy moments from this past month! ➡️📸
