Today is D-Day Remembrance Day... on June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord — the massive amphibious invasion of N**i-occupied France along the beaches of Normandy. It became one of the largest and most consequential military operations of World War II, involving thousands of ships, aircraft, and ground troops across multiple nations.

The operation marked a turning point in the war in Europe, eventually leading to the liberation of Western Europe from N**i control. The fighting on the beaches — Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword — came at a heavy cost, with thousands of soldiers killed or wounded on the first day alone.

Today, D-Day is remembered not just as a military milestone, but as a moment defined by sacrifice, coordination, and courage from ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances.

It remains one of the most studied and honored events of the 20th century.

A day to remember those who never made it home.

We are closely monitoring the weather and at this point we are still moving forward with the parade.

Around parade time, the forecast shows a decreased chance of rain.

For the Town House ceremony, if raining, our friends at the fabulous Lewisboro Library will accommodate us.

As we head into Memorial Day, the Lewisboro Veterans Advisory Committee would like to wish everyone a safe and meaningful holiday weekend. 🇺🇸
While many gather with family and friends, enjoy barbecues, parades, and the unofficial start of summer, we also ask our community to pause and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms.

May we never forget those heroes, nor the families who carry their memories every day. Their courage, service, and sacrifice are the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms we hold so dear.

Please take a moment this weekend to reflect, remember, and honor them.
