🐾 MEET CLAIRE AKA HONEY 🐾
1 year old • Female • Pittie • 45 lbs

Not long ago, Claire’s name was sitting on a euthanasia list. Her future had been reduced to a deadline.

Thankfully, Claire got her freedom ride and a second chance. And now that we know this girl, we can’t imagine all that personality, love and pittie chaos never getting the chance to find her family. 🖤💛

Claire is PITTIE through and through. Everything you love about pitties has somehow been packed into one adorable, wiggly, opinionated 45-pound package.

She LOVES her people. She’s affectionate, loyal, goofy and fully convinced that once you’re hers, you’re hers. Strangers? Claire believes it is her civic duty to announce their arrival because she is, obviously, Queen of the Domain. 👑😂

Claire can be a little... enthusiastic when meeting new people. Personal space is more of a suggestion than a rule, and sometimes her excitement arrives about three seconds before the rest of her manners do. 😂 She’s young and still learning!

If there are children in the home, they should be sturdy enough and prepared for the FULL PITTIE EXPERIENCE™: wiggles, enthusiasm, kisses, more wiggles and approximately zero understanding of her own strength.

💛 But Claire has another deadline coming.
Her foster mom is scheduled for surgery in November, so we would LOVE to see Claire adopted and settled into her forever home before then.

Her foster home gave Claire the safe place she needed to escape the euthanasia list, decompress, learn some manners and discover that being a beloved house dog is actually a pretty fantastic gig. Now we need to help her finish the journey.
She’s young. She’s fun. She’s ridiculously lovable. And she’s ready for a family who appreciates everything that makes a pittie a PITTIE.

Claire already beat one deadline.

Let’s make sure she doesn’t have to face another.

🐾 WILLA HAS DISCOVERED INDOOR LIVING 🐾

For months, Willa was roaming the streets of Stockton, figuring out life on her own. A sober-living home started feeding her and gave her a safe place to land, and eventually this beautiful girl made her way to us.

With a small plot twist.

She was pregnant. 🤦‍♀️😂

Willa delivered her babies, raised her little Western crew, and officially retired from motherhood.

And now?

Willa has discovered the absolutely outrageous luxury of being a HOUSE DOG.

Beds? Fantastic.
Climate control? Brilliant.
Food that magically appears every day? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Humans available for affection ON DEMAND? Excellent service.

Willa is a 2–3 year old Doberman, now spayed and ready to find the home where she can continue this new lifestyle permanently.

Considering this girl spent months surviving on the streets, watching her realize that she can relax, be loved and just be somebody's dog has been pretty incredible.

Ranger (Blue Dober) is a Mizfit Alumni. He came to stay with us while his dad was evacuated from the Hawk Fire. Cheeto and Dorito made him feel right at home! Cheeto and Dorito are available for adoption.

🐾 A HUGE THANK YOU TO Your Local Pet Station! 🐾

We want to give a big shoutout to PetStation for their continued support of Mizfit Muttz Rescue, from helping keep hungry bellies full to helping cover much-needed veterinary care. ❤️

This week, thanks to PetStation’s Round Up Program, they helped pay for TWO neuters and ONE spay for three of our pups:

And here’s the really cool part...

💕 MEET MADDIE — Learning How to Be a Dog 💕

Maddie is a 4-year-old Maltese mix who has been quietly figuring out something most dogs never have to think about: how to just be a dog.

And watching her discover it has been pretty incredible. ❤️

When Maddie first arrived in foster care, she was anxious, unsure and overwhelmed by everyday life. She didn't know what toys were. She struggled around food and resources. She had some behaviors that told us very clearly that this little girl needed time, patience and a chance to feel safe.

So that's exactly what she's been given.

And Maddie is blossoming. 🌸

Today, she's happier, calmer and much more settled. She plays with her foster dog sister, Bean, and absolutely adores the kids in her foster home. She's discovered TOYS and apparently has decided that the squeakier they are, the better. 😂 She loves snuffle mats, treat toys and keeping careful watch over the neighborhood from the front window.

She's also a total cuddle bug who gives HUGS. 🥹❤️

Maddie walks nicely on a harness, sleeps through the night in her crate and is doing wonderfully with her previous resource guarding. She's eating well, has gained much-needed weight and is becoming more comfortable with life every day.

Maddie does still have some quirks, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

She isn't a dog who will thrive with someone expecting perfection on Day One. She needs a patient, understanding family willing to continue helping her build confidence and learn that she's safe. She doesn't enjoy being crated and may nip when being placed in one, so her foster keeps crating to nighttime only. She can still be a little protective of high-value chews, although she's made tremendous progress.

But beneath those remaining rough edges?

There is one happy, affectionate, goofy little dog who is finally getting to enjoy life. 🐾

Maddie doesn't need someone to change who she is.

She needs someone willing to keep showing her how wonderful being a dog can be.

And we think she's ready to find them. ❤️

🐾 FOUR CAROLINA DOGS ARE READY FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES! 🐾

What’s a Carolina Dog, you ask?

Think American Dingo.

Also known as the Dixie Dingo, the Carolina Dog is a primitive American breed known for those fantastic pointy ears, fox-like faces, curved tails, intelligence, and strong pack instincts.

And we happen to have FOUR of these little dingos looking for families!

Meet Taki, Cheeto, Dorito & Frito.
And yes, Frito is the only girl in this bag of chips. 😂

These four came to us from less-than-desirable conditions, so they're still learning just how good life can be. They're shy when they first meet you, but once they feel safe, their personalities start sneaking out.

🐕 Another dog in the home is preferred.
These pups really look to other dogs for confidence and guidance, and having a canine buddy helps them blossom.

They're also discovering that indoor life is pretty darn nice! They enjoy being inside with their people, but they also appreciate being able to come and go and spend time outside.

OUR MIZFIT FAMILY SHOWED UP !

We have been a little radio silent the last couple days. There has been tension, sleepless nights, really hot days, and a fair amount of unknowns, planning and preparations.

Things are looking a little more manageable tonight, and we have so many people to thank.

🐾 Willa’s puppies have been moved to safe temporary place, and Willa is heading to foster.

A HUGE thank you to Jen from Your Local Pet Station for dropping everything and coming to pick up puppies, to Marshal for giving us a spot to bring puppies if needed, and to the fosters and supporters who checked in, and offered what they could.

💧 Thank you to the friends who showed up with water and fuel for the generator when we desperately needed both.

🔧 And a massive thank you to our neighbor who got a generator running!

Yesterday felt pretty overwhelming. Two days under evacuation warning, no power which also meant no water because we are on a well. Today was a reminder of exactly what a community can do when people simply show up for each other.

We aren't completely out of the woods with the Fred Mountain/Bug Fire yet, but the dogs are safer, we have a working generator, power is back on and tonight things feel a whole lot less impossible.

Thank you. Truly. ❤️🐾
