Driver's Edge

We’re so honored to be recognized by Nevada Dept of Transportation and NV State Police for nearly 25 years of work in Nevada! Recognized with the state’s highest honor of the Bernard Hartung Leadership Award is such an achievement that we are so proud of!

Nearly 100,000 of Nevada’s teens and parents have attended a Driver’s Edge event. We look forward to continuing our mission to save lives and make a difference on Nevada’s roadways.

We’d like to thank everyone who came out to compete in our Driver’s Edge “Thank You Competition”!

This event brought together our community partners, law enforcement, and supporters for a friendly competition on a relay style driving course.

It was a fun and exciting afternoon with everyone putting their driving skills to the test.

Congratulations to the Reno Police Department for taking home the championship!

A big THANK YOU to KLAS Channel 8 News for featuring Driver’s Edge throughout August as part of their Community Pride Partner program!

Support like this matters. Media exposure helps us reach more Nevada families, and community and donor support helps keep Driver’s Edge programs free for teens and parents.

Together, that support helps us continue our mission of giving young drivers the skills they need to make safer decisions behind the wheel — and ultimately helping keep teens safer on Nevada’s roads.

Thank you, Channel 8, for helping us spread the word and supporting the mission!

Last week, five 17-year-old boys lost their lives when the vehicle they were riding in left the road and went over a cliff in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened, with speed being considered as a possible factor.

Five teenagers. Five families whose lives changed forever.

Stories like this are difficult to read. For those of us at Driver’s Edge, they are also a painful reminder of why we continue to do what we do.

For more than two decades, we’ve put young drivers behind the wheel and allowed them to experience — in a safe, controlled environment — what happens when a car loses traction, what to do in emergency braking scenarios, and how to react when the unexpected happens.

We can’t prepare young drivers for every situation.

But we can give them the skills and experience to be better prepared when the unexpected happens.

Registration for our next Reno Driver’s Edge event is now open.

The program is free.

The lessons can last a lifetime.
