Redding CAMFT is a local chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

The Redding Regional Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) is a professional organization that serves the interests of Marriage and Family Therapists throughout Shasta, Tehama, Siskiyou, Modoc, Trinity, and Lassen County. Our chapter strives to provide clinicians and affiliates with professional networking, continuing education, and social opportunities. RR

C-CAMFT also endeavors to increase public awareness of the important role Marriage and Family Therapist’s (MFT’s) hold in the field of psychotherapy and mental health.

⚖️ MFT ADVOCACY

CAMFT continues to advocate for issues that impact the professional standing and financial well-being of MFTs, including:

• Advocating for improved insurance reimbursement rates
• Strategically determining when and how to deploy advocacy efforts
• Working closely with AAMFT on federal legislative issues
• Strengthening the collective voice of MFTs at the state and national levels

💼 PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS

CAMFT is focused on enhancing members’ ability to establish, grow, and sustain successful careers and businesses.

CAMFT serves as a professional resource for:
• MFT training and education
• Business and practice resources
• Professional development

🤖 TECHNOLOGY & AI

CAMFT is exploring ways to leverage technology and AI to enhance operations, member services, and leadership within the profession.

An updated CAMFT Code of Ethics with AI guidance has been approved, reflecting the changing landscape of mental health practice.

📝 NATIONAL MFT EXAM

California is one of the few states that currently utilizes its own MFT licensing examination rather than the national exam.

A transition to the national MFT exam could provide additional opportunities and greater portability for California MFTs.

⚠️ IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS, TRAINEES & ASSOCIATES:
The timeline for transitioning to the national exam is still being discussed due to several roadblocks that need to be addressed.

CAMFT is also encouraging members to support its PAC 10 x $10,000 in 2026 to help strengthen advocacy efforts on behalf of MFTs.

We're excited to welcome Joy Alafia, Executive Director of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), to RRC-CAMFT for an exclusive State of the Profession presentation!

👏 Since joining CAMFT in 2022, Joy has helped lead the organization through exciting growth and innovation, including:
✨ Developing CAMFT's two-year strategic plan
✨ Launching the organization's first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement
✨ Advocating for the future of the MFT profession across California

But that's not all...

Joy brings more than 17 years of executive leadership experience in organizational management, governance, marketing, and strategic partnerships. Before CAMFT, she served as CEO of the Western Propane Gas Association, held a leadership role with the California Association of REALTORS®, and has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including United Way Bay Area.
