SuNica is a registered 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization dedicated to helping Nicaraguans thrive through clean water, education, and discipleship. A little glimpse into discipleship happening this week! 🧡

These photos capture some of our discipleship groups coming together to learn about Jesus, build friendships, and grow in their faith.

And the best part? This isn’t just happening in one community! Through SuNica’s education and discipleship programming, moments like these are happening in every community we serve.

We’re really proud of this group of young people in La Leona.

They’re the first generation in the community to attend university while also serving as volunteer leaders with SuNica.

Their schedules are full. They have classes, homework, exams, and plenty of responsibilities of their own. But they still make time to show up.

They help care for the space where kids gather. They mentor younger children. They teach them about Jesus and are becoming people those kids can look up to.

Someone showed up for them when they were younger. Now they’re doing the same.

We love watching them work toward their own futures while still making time to invest in their community. 🧡

In Salinas, it looks like young people like Eliezer and Mario

Both have grown into leaders that younger kids look up to, seek out for advice, and trust for spiritual guidance. They’re showing up, investing in the next generation, and modeling what it looks like to follow Jesus.

This is what we hope for through discipleship. Not simply kids participating in a program, but young people growing in their own faith and eventually turning around to invest in someone else.

Soccer is a big deal in San Carlos, but for a long time, the kids didn’t have goalposts. That didn’t stop them from playing. They simply used tree branches to mark the goals and kept going. ⚽

Our pre-leadership youth saw an opportunity to make it better.
Using fallen trees, they worked together to build real goalposts for the community field. Now the kids have a much better place to play, built by young people from their own community who saw a need and stepped up to meet it! ⚽️🧡

This is the kind of leadership we love to see growing in San Carlos.

Clean water is flowing in Los Ranchos, but the work didn’t stop when the water turned on!

The community’s water committee, CAPS, recently completed its first round of door-to-door meter readings and billing. They divided into teams, learned new administrative skills, delivered receipts to families, and worked together to keep their community’s water system running smoothly.

This is a huge part of what makes clean water sustainable. We’re not just building a water system. We’re helping equip local leaders with the tools and experience to care for it for years to come!

Some of the most exciting progress in San Carlos is happening underground!

Bathrooms are still underway, and our team has been hard at work digging septic pits by hand. Each one means another family is getting closer to having a safe, private bathroom at home.

Our friends from Hope Community Church and Christ the King PCA in Raleigh got to be part of the work too. They dug alongside our staff, met the families receiving bathrooms, and were welcomed into their homes for lunch.

Some of the most exciting progress in San Carlos is happening underground!

Bathrooms are still underway, and our team has been hard at work digging septic pits by hand. Each one means another family is getting closer to having a safe, private bathroom at home.

Three days. 70+ kids. A whole lot of soccer. ⚽️

Our team recently spent three days in Salinas for a community soccer tournament. Between games, cheering from the sidelines, and sharing lunch in the homes of local families, there were so many opportunities to simply spend time together.

Soccer brought everyone together, but the relationships made the weekend special. 🧡

It takes a lot of people to make a night like our Annual Benefit Dinner happen!

We are so thankful for our board, staff, and volunteers who gave their time, energy, and talents to make the evening so special. So much happens behind the scenes before a single guest ever walks through the door, and we couldn’t do it without this team.

And of course, we are incredibly grateful for our SuNica faithful who showed up to support the mission. Some of you have been with us for years, and some joined us for the very first time. You came ready to celebrate, give generously, encourage our team, and invest in what God is doing in Nicaragua.

This is what it looks like to STAY. To keep showing up, serving, giving, and believing in the work God has called us to do.
We’re grateful to be in it for the long haul with all of you. 🧡
