Join members of the Tarheel Chapter for our first social event of 2023! The Chapter has reserved a private gathering space at Pinot’s Palette in Brier Creek on Thursday, March 9th for everyone to come together to enjoy some food, network, and paint. There will also be wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Even if you’ve never done a paint and sip event, come join the fun! And don’t worry, all attendees will be coached through the painting process.

The cost is $37 per person, and doors open at 6pm for everyone to be able to socialize, grab a bite to eat or a drink, and get ready for the painting to start at 6:30pm. Meet Perla | Tarheel Chapter Protégé

Perla Uclés of Coastal Credit Union grew up and attended college in Honduras, gaining a finance degree from Universidad Tecnologica Centroamericana. She is immersed in the movement and is passionate about uplifting the voices of the next generation of credit union professionals and being a strong advocate and resource for the Hispanic community. In her free time, she loves to read, sing, and try new restaurants with her friends and family.

Can you imagine spending the holidays without your family? That is the reality for the approximately 12,000 children living in foster care in North Carolina. Presents during the holidays are important, but what every child wishes for is to celebrate with a permanent, safe, and loving family. Will you help bring one child hope this holiday season?

Your generous gift to the Children's Home Society of NC (CHS) will help ensure that a child's needs are met this holiday season and all year-round. Want to help? Make an online donation before December 9!

-$60 could fulfill an unmet wish for a child this holiday
-$120 could help a child through the adjustment period of being with a new family
-$600 could provide one month of care in a safe, stable home with a foster family who has received training and support from CHS
-$1,200 could cover the cost of licensing 10 new foster families
-$3,000 could support a family in crisis by providing intensive family services, education and counseling

Last year, through the generosity of all our members, and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, the Tarheel Chapter of the Carolinas Credit Union League raised $6,700 for local children and families. That covered the unfunded costs of one child's adoption from foster care into their forever family. We want to reach more children and families. That's why we have made a goal this year of raising $7,500.

Thank you to those who came out today to support the Tarheel Chapter’s Protégé Competition!

We had two competitors this season, Perla Uclés (Coastal CU) and Jamerson Pearson (Civic/LGFCU). Both were well-prepared and gave great presentations. The scores were extremely close, but unfortunately we could only select one to represent our Chapter.

The Tarheel Chapter has selected Perla Uclés of Coastal CU to represent the Chapter at the CUaware Protégé Competition finals taking place at the Carolinas Credit Union League’s LAUNCH Conference February 9-10, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. Perla is a Senior Account Manager at Coastal Credit Union. In her presentation she discussed the importance of language translation within online banking platforms to make financial services accessible to all members.

Thanks to the big-hearted, compassionate nature of our Tarheel Chapter credit union colleagues, the Chapter donated $6,839 to the Children's Home Society of NC!

Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity likely lifted the spirits of so many children in care in the triangle area during the holidays.
