✨ What goes into a New Placement Bag? ✨

When a child enters foster care, they often arrive with only the clothes on their back—or a few belongings hurriedly packed in a trash bag. These items are rarely packed with the care and intention every child deserves.

At The Foster Closet, we believe every child entering care should feel seen, valued, and comforted. That’s why we pack each New Placement Bag with brand-new essentials chosen with love:

🧸 A weighted or microwaveable stuffed animal
🛋️ A cozy blanket
💧 A reusable water bottle
✏️ A journal or coloring book with markers/pens

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made today possible! ❤️

Because of your support, The Foster Closet was able to serve 46 families and over 100 incredible kids today.

Despite the weather throwing a major wrench in our morning plans, seeing so many bright smiles made it all worth it. Today simply wouldn't have happened without our selfless volunteers, generous donors, wish list buyers, nonprofit partners, and the wonderful families who showed up.

Here are just a few of the sweet messages we’ve received since wrapping up:

“She was nearly tearful when she told me how special she felt today.”

“I’m so happy I could cry.” — One sweet kiddo going through his new school supplies

From seeing little ones beam in their Christmas dresses ready for Santa, to hearing moments like these, my heart is completely full. The magic of today was a true blessing.

Huge THANK YOU to an amazing volunteer team! 💙

We had the privilege of hosting a fantastic group from Lawyers Mutual NC along with incredible community volunteers at our sorting event this past Friday morning. Together, this hardworking crew rolled up their sleeves and spent a couple of hours sorting through our incoming clothes and donations.

Everyone did an amazing job! Hands-on help like yours is directly how we ensure our families receive what they need—and thanks to your hard work, we are fully prepared for our upcoming open houses! 📦✨

Our annual Christmas in July event is almost here—this Saturday, July 25th!

Our registration numbers keep rising, which is amazing! Right now, we have over 55 families and almost 140 kids ready to have the best day ever. ❤️🎁

🎄 Partner Spotlight: The Foster Closet's Christmas in July! 🎄

One of the things we love most about our partners is that they consistently show up for children and families in practical, tangible ways-and The Foster Closet is a beautiful example of that!

Last year alone they:
✨ Served more than 500 children experiencing foster care.
🎒 Hosted 22 open houses and distributed 75+ filled backpacks.
🛏️ Purchased beds that made sibling reunification possible.
💙 Provided emergency essentials for new foster placements.
🤝 Partnered with RDU for FAMs countless times—including helping stock the Wake County Visitation Center and providing resources that helped prevent children from entering foster care!

Now they're getting ready for one of their biggest events of the year: Christmas in July!

Every child will receive:
🎒 A filled backpack
🎅 A visit with Santa
🎁 A brand-new toy to take home

But they need our community's help to make it happen!

Christmas in July is happening July 25th. Help us clear the wishlist to make sure every kid who attends get a new toy. We are expecting over 100 kids who are or have experienced foster care.

During our event, they will get a filled backpack, meet Santa, and get a new toy. But we cannot do it without the support of the community!!
