Remember Autumn and her two sons? The family who escaped a dangerous situation and moved into an empty apartment with nothing?

Here's what happened next.

Through The Green Chair Project's Sweeter Dreams program, Autumn's sons received brand-new beds - complete with mattresses, frames, and bedding.

That first night, they slept soundly for the first time in months.

"The Green Chair Project didn't just deliver furniture," Autumn shares. "They delivered hope."

With real beds, her boys could finally:
✅ Sleep through the night
✅ Wake up rested
✅ Focus on school and homework
✅ Feel at home

"For the first time in a long time, our space felt like home," Autumn says.

This back-to-school season, help us deliver hope to 500 more children just like Autumn's sons.

A good night of sleep changes everything. Through our Sweeter Dreams program, we provide brand-new beds, bedding, and comfort items for children who need them most. It's more than a place to sleep. It's a foundation for healthy development, success in school, and peace of mind.

Right now, thousands of children in Wake County are sleeping on floors, couches, or crowded in with others. In 2025, because of you, we provided 1,364 beds and cribs so children no longer had to go without. You can help a child close their eyes tonight knowing tomorrow starts on solid ground.

Meet Autumn.

After escaping domestic violence, she and her two sons moved into a new apartment with nothing but hope for a safer future.

Standing in the doorway, Autumn felt grateful for safety - but overwhelmed by what was missing.

The rooms were empty. No beds for her boys. No table. No chairs.

"How will they sleep tonight?" she remembers thinking. "How will they focus on school when they're exhausted?"

Autumn's story is heartbreaking. But it doesn't end there.

We’re thrilled to announce that The Green Chair Project has been selected as the 2026 Enloe Charity Ball partner!

This partnership is about so much more than a fundraising campaign. Throughout the year, Enloe students will become ambassadors for our mission, helping raise awareness and support for the work we do to furnish homes and provide essential household items to individuals and families overcoming hardship.

Together, we’ll help more children have a bed of their own and more families experience the dignity, stability, and hope that comes with a furnished home. We are incredibly grateful to the Enloe Student Council for choosing Green Chair and for believing that a furnished home is a foundation for everything that comes next.

Three years in a row, the incredible team from Elliott Davis has shown up ready to make a difference, and we're so grateful to have them as part of our Green Chair family.

Recently, they rolled up their sleeves to build coffee tables and dressers that will soon help turn houses into homes for families across Wake County. They worked hard, laughed a lot, and reminded us that doing good together is pretty fun, too.
