Riecken Community Libraries

Riecken Community Libraries provide access to information in remote, rural and marginalized communities of Guatemala and Honduras.

Each library - open and free to all - provides books, computers, training, and dynamic programs focused on literacy skills. To change the world, you must be able to envision the future. Riecken libraries promote literacy for all ages, a love of reading and the understanding of new technologies. But they do much more: They open the doors to innovation and imagination. That, in turn, has sparked new

and unexpected opportunities in Riecken communities. Currently there are over 60 libraries in Guatemala and Honduras.

Different corners of the world, same beautiful mission.

When the late, legendary Dolly Parton started the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she did it out of pure love and a simple belief: that every single child deserves access to books and the chance to dream big. She knew that putting a book into a child's hands could ignite a lifelong love of reading.

In Honduras and Guatemala, Riecken Community Libraries share that same vision establishing vibrant, democratic community centers packed with books and learning opportunities. By breaking down barriers to literacy and creating spaces where the love of reading can thrive when someone walks through the doors of a Riecken library, minds are expanded, futures are brightened, and communities are strengthened.

Dolly once said, "If you can read, it gives you wings to fly anywhere you want to go."
