Bay Area Woodworkers Association Bay Area Woodworkers Association (BAWA) was formed in 1982 to strengthen the woodworking community i The meetings provide a learning experience for everyone.

Our members cover the complete spectrum of woodworkers from hobbyists to professional; from new comers to lifelong woodworkers. The common interest is they all want to learn more about the craft and improve their woodworking skills. At our regular monthly meetings we discuss, disseminate and exchange information on woods, tools, woodworking techniques etc. The meetings provide an informal forum for exchanging knowledge and ideas. Most of the meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday evenings of the month in Foster City. Meetings start at 6:30pm with a 30 minute social time when attendees can discuss topics of interest with other members. Meetings then proceed to the evening's formal program which varies every month but typically will include the evenings main presentation or demonstration given by one our experts in BAWA or a distinguished guest speaker. This is followed by Members Show and Tell or Tool Talks where members get the chance to talk about their projects or experience with tools etc. Any topic that is related to the broad field of woodworking can be discussed. We also participate in woodworking related charitable activates to help communities in the Bay Area. For the last few years we have worked on several Rebuilding Together projects where we have pre-built cabinetry for deserving causes in our members workshops then installed them at sites around the Bay Area.

BAWA Woodworking Show 2024

After a hiatus of 6 years, the Bay Area Woodworkers Association (BAWA) is bringing back our Fine Woodworking Show! This is your chance to show off your wood creations to the general public.

Show entry is open to BAWA members as well as to the general public of all skill levels. We would like to encourage young people to become interested in woodworking, so we’re waiving entry fees for high school students.

The Woodworking Show will be Saturday and Sunday, June 8 & 9, 2024 with an opening reception on Friday, June 7. Eric McCrystal at Woodcraft is once more kindly allowing us to hold the show in the Woodcraft showroom at 40 El Camino Real in San Carlos.

It contains a presentation on the Design and Build of Breakfast Nook by Frank Ramsay plus several Show and Tells including Burt's radio controlled airplane.

Next month our Guest Speaker will be Jason Forster speaking about the Tea House he is building.

Plus our Name Tag Challenge: your are asked to design a name tag you can wear while at BAWA meetings.
The only rule is that it must be woodwork related ie: made from wood or any other thing related.
